  1. He wears #23. Funny.
  2. Guessing: Nolan Ryan David Cone um. That's all I got.
  3. October to April. Except when I'm sleeping.

I wonder how many guys you have to go through before I become the rightful winner.
  5. Let's hope we get Pre-All Star Break Wise (2.87 ERA) instead of Post-All Star Break Wise (7.31 ERA).

I was so relieved not to have been mentioned in the Mitchell Report. Yancy's abuse was obvious. When he showed up he was just a measly little database. Now he's a big muscular orange rocky dude. We all knew he was on something.
  7. As long as we're all coming clean, in 2004 I once took a pre-natal vitamin. My wife had asked me to go get it for her from the kitchen, along with a glass of water. On the way back, I stopped to watch something unfold on TV, got distracted, popped the pill in my mouth, and washed it down with water. I knew immediately it was a mistake, that taking pre-natal vitamins was unnatural. From there on out, I made it a point never to go near that stuff again. I apologize for disappointing all of you, and I understand that by my actions, I may have tainted some of the posts I made in 2004. I am willing to accept this but I ask that we wipe the slate clean going forward. I am happy to cooperate fully in any investigation that may ensue and I urge you all to stay away from pre-natal vitamins.
  8. I like how Asshead has become the face of the Mitchell Report.
  9. While it doesn't exonerate him, I am happy that Piazza's name never surfaced...even as some of his teammates were listed and Radomski was operating right next door.
  10. I was most surprised by seeing Miguel Olivo on that list until I looked up his stats and saw he's not very good either.
  11. I'm out. Sorry about the confusion.
  12. You know, after my son was born, I couldn't hit for shit.
  13. Speculation in the rags today is that the Mets might not make any move, for a starting pitcher or otherwise. I hope this is just posturing on Omar's part. Schneider/Church better not be the major acquisitions of this off-season.
  14. Delgado really killed us last year. I can't believe we have to put up with another year of that.
  15. According to various reports, Santana might be a two-horse race now between the Red Sox and MFY's. Loser might end up trading for Dan Haren, if they see fit because Billy Beane is said to be looking for a similar package for his ace.
  16. The more I think about it, the less sense this makes. Schneider stinks. He's not any better than Estrada, who the Mets already had, so trading for him is no benefit at all. Which essentially makes this Milledge for Church. If Milledge were given the starting job, he would most likely put up at least Church's numbers. In fact, it would probably be a disappointment if he only produced at that level. I can understand trading away a player with upside for known entity, but when that known is mediocre, it makes no sense at all.
  17. ="martin"] omar will come on the fan in a few mins and set us straight. Just kidding! Ha! Gotcha.
  18. I wish we had signed Yorvit Torrealba.
  19. soupcan wrote: Omar's got to have something else in the hopper - he's got three catchers now and Milledge as part a package could've brought a starter. Please let there be another deal coming. I remember thinking Omar had something in the hopper and no way he'd let the Mets start the 2007 season with Perez, Maine, Pelfrey and two guys over forty as the starting rotation.
  20. This makes no sense. Ryan Church is a decent player. Brian Schneider hits worse than LoDuca. That's not enough for Milledge.
  21. It might make for some interesting situations. For instance, at what point is a player burned for the game? If you submit a lineup card with Endy, then decide to sub in Carlos Gomez before a pitch is thrown, is Endy still eligible to pinch hit? What would stop a visiting team from declaring Heilman as their starter, then after the left-handed hitting team has fielded the top of the first, send out Feliciano in the bottom of that inning (assuming Heilman hasn't batted yet)?
  22. The biggest obstacle here is who do you start? Assuming you have two "quality" middle relievers, and the rest are inferior, do you start Heilman or Feliciano every other day? Do you rotate your top three? Do you give Mota a start here and there? If you were to limit your starts to quality guys, you use your quality middle guys in every game...even ones that end up being blowouts because you don't know it's going to be a blowout that day. The traditional way, when Tom Glavine gets bombed, you bring in Aaron Sele and rest your better pitchers.
  23. Oddly, it might benefit a starting pitcher's win total if this strategy were implemented. The reliever who actually starts the game would not be eligible for the win because he wouldn't go 5 innings. The "starter" would then go innings 3 through 7 (or 8) meaning he would stick around longer and be more likely to pick up the decision.
  24. The News has a big headline on its backpage that says "NEVER SAY NO WAY, JOSE" implying that the Mets would include him in a deal for Santana. When you read the article, however, that's precisely what the Mets are saying, stating that Reyes, Wright, and Beltran are going nowhere. I think they'd be crazy to even consider moving Reyes for Santana. If that's what it takes, I say trade for Dan Haren, get a rightfielder and get ready for spring training.
  25. I think JCL wrapped it up nicely, but for me, McCarthy's refusal to account for the runners was maddening. If it's 1st and 2nd one out, tell me if the runner from second scores, but also tell me if the runner on first made it to third or not. I found I was constantly wondering about that.
