  1. This is SO a game they would have lost last year. I lik baseball.
  2. I'm surprised Burgos had enough control to land any punches where he aimed them. I don't mean to make light of the situation. He is every bit the loser Brett Myers is.
  3. What they should do is petition God to have Yankee injuries heal faster than other players. God should understand what this organization has meant to the universe as a whole. It's just that God is so short-sighted and doesn't understand the Bombers' rich history. Mitchell must be part of his advisory team or something...
  4. If we're talking about what we want, I want KRod as our closer with Fuentes as a lefty setup guy. I want to re-sign Oliver Perez as our fifth starter behind Santana, Sabathia, Pelfrey and Maine. I want Manny in left and Orlando Hudson at second. I want to find a better catcher (don't know where to find one myself but there are people paid lots of money to accomplish this).
  5. Oh good. Thanks. It is weird though, that after having bullpen guys rack up all these appearances, should the Mets make the post-season, they'd be turning to guys like Ayala, Stokes and Reyes.
  6. I checked the "Going to the Game" thread and thought everyone was going in the afternoon. I love that picture of Stella, she looks cute...not as cute as Vic, but still cute. Booing the kid was not cool, but absolutely, 100% predictable. That's why it's a bad idea. The God Bless America thing was weird too. I would think that if you're going to sing in front of 50,000, you'd maybe, I don't know, tuck your shirt in or something.
  7. Vic Sage wrote: what about Al Reyes. Is he healthy enough to be useful? Is he even eligible for the post-season? He was added after September 1, no?
  8. My wife and I took the kids last night. A buddy of mine had a Diamond View Suite, so we figured it would be a relatively easy way to go to the game with a 7 week old baby. And we wanted to get her to Shea before it closed its doors. She didn't seem impressed. Just slept, and nursed, and cried as if we were at home. My son (just turned 3) loved it though. He waved his arms in excitement the entire bottom of the first. He's at the point now that when he hears that familiar three-part beat, he knows to chant "Let's Go Mets!" (The MVP confused him, he continued to chant "Let's go Mets" anyway. At least, I think he was confused, unless he's been talking to Norrin's son and trying to make a statement). He didn't seem to like the luxury box though. He kept pointing out to the crowd saying "Dada, let's go there." I missed Delgado's second HR because he had to pee. The only down part was that he was really looking forward to singing "Take me Out to the Ballgame" but instead they had some kid playing a banjo or something. Stupid move by the Mets. You can't take that away from a crowd. I felt bad for the kid because he got booed but, you know, it sucked. Lazy Mary was still fun though.
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: This must be what Keith means by "unconscious." Interesting choice of words. I refer to it as "stupid".
  10. It seemed strange that we didn't hear about any follow up MRI before his rehab throwing. Hopefully they'll get it checked out and get him in good shape for next year.
  11. Uncanny. It's like another Oprah moment.
  12. Eliminate the orange dot on the blue caps of the New York Mets.
  13. Wow, I would have guessed Webb.

He'll play with former Mets Alberto Castillo, Michael Tucker, Carl Everett, and Abraham Nunez, as well as Ozzie Smith's son Dustin. http://www.newarkbears.com/thebears/currentroster/ Anthony Manuel (date of birth 8-17-82) enters his fourth season of professional baseball. Originally signed by the New York Mets in 2005, Manuel played 36 games in the Appalachian League in 2005, batting .246 with 1 homerun and 11 runs batted in. In 2006, Manuel played another 34 games in the Appalachian League, batting .245 with 18 runs batted in, before being promoted to the South Atlantic League for 8 games. In 2008, Manuel played 2 games for the Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League. Over the course of 3 seasons, Manuel has played in 80 games, batting .232 with 1 homerun and 29 runs batted in. Defensively, Manuel can play second base, shortstop, and third base. Manuel is the son of current New York Mets manager, Jerry Manuel. (Merged from Offspring Splitoff, 5/1/2009) Edgy DC May 01 2009 09:08 AM Found a home for it. seawolf17 May 01 2009 09:20 AM Thanks. I knew it existed somewhere, but couldn't find it.
  15. Why does it say TRADED over Santana's face?

  17. Me too. Did you call refer to a Buffalo as a Bison at a bar? Some of them get really touchy about that.
  18. Syracuse. Being from Oswego and all.
  19. Love that guy.
  20. Perez through 6. 6-1. It'd be nice to score like 12 runs here so we can give Stokes and Ayala a little rest.
  21. Bush is only at about 50 pitches in the 4th inning. He gave up lots of runs, but at least he game them up efficiently. He could go 6 or 7 still.
  22. Reyes stranded. I liked the first inning better.
  23. Great. Everyone knows we lose these games where we score first and then go to sleep the rest of the game. This sucks.
  24. Daily News says Billy is doing better. Could pitch in a simulated game this weekend and be activated by next week.
  25. 5-2 so far.
