  1. KRod must take a hell of a stride. He's practically at the plate.
  2. "Yes, I know it's a puzzling move considering the timing, but honestly, we didn't think we'd be any good and that there would be lots more opportunities to fire Jerry. That being said, he's still doing a shitty job and we just couldn't let Bobby go to Florida, so there you have it. Jerry out, Bobby will be in uniform tonight. I'll take questions now..."
  3. All good points. I guess it's thick-headed of me to pretend to know what goes through the mind of a sexual assault victim.
  4. Thoughts: 1. Golf courses are pretty public. If she really didn't want this to happen, it seems it would have been pretty easy to call for help. 2. There were other witnesses, and the story doesn't seem to hold up. 3. She watched him play tennis. I mean, come on. 4. Pretty shitty thing for Johan to do.
  5. Edgy DC wrote: I got 14 games at cleanup for Milner his rookie year, 20 for Swoboda. OE: 15 for Shinjo. No way. Shinjo was our cleanup hitter?
  6. I think Tom Seaver hangs out in elevators. My one and only encounter with him was on the elevator as well. He gave my son a high 5. Not for nothing, but my son isn't even 5 years old yet, but check out this star-studded list of baseballers he has exchanged high 5's with: Tom Seaver Mr. Met Darryl Strawberry Derek Jeter (Jeter offered, my son refused) Hideki Matsui
  7. Valadius wrote: I propose that the current home of the Mets be renamed Doubleday Field. This is only somewhat related, but I remember Bob Murphy refusing to acknowledge the name change from Jack Murphy Stadium to QualComm (for obvious reasons). I don't know how long he did it, but I remember Gary Cohen doing this as well and thinking it was a cool thing to do for his former partner. I'd be all for Bob Murphy Stadium.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think the Mets should trade for both Lee and Oswalt, and then sign and quickly promote Matt Harvey. Then three fifths of their rotation would be Lee-Harvey-Oswalt. Awesome.
  9. soupcan wrote: That's a pretty great looking bowling ball. Johan Santana may just be the coolest guy on Earth. But even he looks dorky bowling.
  10. That makes perfect sense to me. Lady GaGa only gets in when they win. Justin Bieber has exclusive rights after a loss.
  11. That may be hard. (Off day)
  12. Funniest song about cannibalism ever.
  13. They probably would have still won if they hadn't pulled that forty-year old lawyer out of the stands and let him play CF. (If we're fantasizing, might as well go all the way.) At least he had those curvy blonde triplets to ease the pain of losing.
  14. It had nothing to do with fan demand. He forced their hand by being awesome out of the pen. By sending Chamberlain down, the major league team would have been weaker. Here, Mejia does not make the major league team any better. There would be little lost to the big league club by sending him down to the minors.
  15. Willets Point wrote: I would just give them ball because it's a dick move not to. Yup.
  16. Dumb move there. This is why we don't score for Johan. Gets all soft and shit.
  17. You guys are crazy. You need to see her in this video: Fast forward to the 4:06 mark where she sings along. Oh yes, sweet one. I will come get it from you.
  18. That's her! She hasn't aged a day!
  19. Heyward is better than Ike. I guess you have to say Strasburg as well, but the guy has had one start. Who else is there? The guy on St. Louis is pretty good, but I don't think he has Ike's power.
  20. I want, and I need, and I lust. Awesome. Now I got that song stuck in my head. Random thoughts about Def Leppard: 1. They had two songs on that album for which they released basically the same video(Armageddon It and Pour Some Sugar On Me). They were remarkably similar, both had footage of the setup and featured clips from the concert. In fact, they used some of the exact same clips. I don't remember anyone calling them out for this. Really, can anyone mail it in any worse than that? 2. Those videos had glimpses of a concert-goer in one of the front rows. She was blonde, wearing some sort of striped shirt, and for a long time I needed to marry her.
  21. We need an over-enthusiastic Gary Carter to give the sort of high-fives that sting for days. But top of my list is Melvin Mora: The first pic is the last game of the '99 regular season. I'd love to know what that second picture is. Must be the LCS no?
