  1. That is some shit baseball weck.
  2. Just DL Cabrera. Jesus.
  3. So we haven’t actually scored yet, but we do have two runners that made it to 3B.
  4. Cabrera is clearly hurt. Sit him down.
  5. Wait, they're using shovels? I think I know the answer to why they're not hitting. I question the hitting coach. Gotta be able to spot something like that.
  6. So, it's time to put Cabrera on the DL. I love that he has the heart to try to grind this out, but he's got a .339 OPS in June and moves around like he's been shot. Get bettter. Come back when you're ready to rip.
  7. That's the thing right? There's so much season left to be played. Plus, after the Dodgers series, they have 11 games against weak opponents. Pittsburgh, Toronto, Miami and TB. 9-2 over those 11 games goes a long way to getting back into this. In order for that to happen, we need: 1. Cespedes, Syndergaard and Familia have to get back fast. duh. 2. Lugo should stay in the rotation. 3. Go get Wilson Ramos. I tried to believe in Plawecki but it just looks like it's not going to happen. 4. Either Dom Smith catches fire or we give Alonso a chance. We can't win with this little production from 1B. 5. Michael Conforto just has to hit. It's like not even an option that he doesn't hit. 6. Cut Reyes. Call up either that McNeil guy or Cecchini. I still believe in Cecchini
  8. If you count the two games against the Marlins that were played immediately after I wrote this post, the Mets are 4-18 over that 22 game span. This stretch of games just killed our season. When we woke up May 22, the Mets were 24-19, 2.5 back of the division and a game out from the WC. We are now 10.5 games out of the division, and 9 back in the WC, with a small army of teams in front of us. I guess we didn't know it at the time, but those two losses against the Marlins sent us into a tailspin that cost us our season. Unless we have another 11-1 run in us somehow.
  9. Hard to puuuuut....runs on the board Tough to win, when we can't score Some guys too old, some guys too green Our team's sinking like a leaky submarine leaky submarine, leaky submarine
  10. The team’s approach to the draft is weirdly recursive and predictable for something that has not worked very well, but it probably reflects organizational malaise and lassitude more than it does a meddling owner. Still, a half decade of near-identical failures, especially in early rounds, have kept the team from building the young depth necessary for sustained success. I don't really understand the criticism here. Is it that the Mets are predictable? As far as I can tell I don't see any pattern in their draft picks. I just think they haven't picked all that well.
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: It's just frustrating to hear that they should have walked him, but only after something bigger than a walk occurs. And again, if you want to make the case that 100% walksshould be the case then go ahed and make it. But the passive/aggressive approach is no approach at all. Right. This was my issue earlier in the year when the Mets seemingly (I don't know if it was intentional or not) were walking Bryce Harper at every opporunity. Runners on, 2 outs? Sure. Walk him. Leading off an inning? No way. Earn that shit.
  12. MFS62 wrote: He's a pain in the ass against the Mets. I dislike him as much as I disliked Larry Jones. There have been some players who did well against the Mets who I respected - Stargell comes to mind. Freddie's not one of them. Maybe in the future, I'll just type "Fuck Freddie Freeman". Later Why the dislike? I don't remember FFF doing anything other than hit the ball alot.
  13. That deadspin article can't seem to focus on a central thesis. Or if it does I'm not getting it. Just kinda rambles and vents about the Wilpons. The good fundies article is just a collection of Wilpon factoids?
  14. Yes. And he has quotes like "you can't make Jay Bruce an opposite field hitter" or something like that. Why not? Because it would cause him to slump? Sap his HR power? I got some bad news for you...
  15. I've now voted in both. Surprised to see how lopsided that second one is.
  16. Blevins in. HR for FFF. The Mets are so predictable. They might even be worse at poker than they are at baseball.
  17. I have a question for you. Syndergaard threw behind Utley there and missed him. If, instead of an ejection, there was only a warning, does Noah throw at him again? I say yes without a doubt.
  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: 1 hit through 7 innings. Yeah, that'll get it done. You may not be happy with that, but I feel like the Mets avoiding the indignity of getting no-hit so far is a small victory.
  19. That itself might be the explanation for the walk rate. Fouling off the pitches you should be crushing and thus prolonging the AB's. That can lead to walks in LV. It won't in the show.
  20. Watching that clip on loop, even as the game is being played now. I feel like every Mets fan on earth can related to Terry there.
  21. "MLB DID NOTHING TO THAT GUY. NOTHING. GOD DAMN. FUCKING BULLSHIT!" I was so mad at Terry when the Utley play went down. He needed to be that mad right then and there. Get himself thrown out of the game. I honestly think he was caught off guard and just didn't know how to react. But man, you can hear all of that come out right there. The pent up frustration. You can't fake that kind of passion. As much as I didn't think TC was a great on-field manager, he was definitely one of the more likeable ones we've had. Fire. Heart. Love it. I was on board with letting him go and bringing in the new smart guy. Now that it looks like new guy may not be that smart, I don't know what to think. "FUCKING **********! YOU GOTTA GIVE US OUR SHOT!"
  22. Agreed that Dom Smith's numbers are bad, but it's still a relatively small sample size. 219 ABs. In 2017, Brandon Nimmo had a .732 OPS in LV, with a terrible average, and only 4 HR's. So there's precedent for a hitter turning it on after they arrive at the show. Nimmo, like Smith, was much better in the year before. .905 for Smith, .964 for Nimmo. So hopefully Dom gets the bump like Nimmo did. Hopefully.
  23. Although, I guess if the Mets are going to continue to be constrained in payroll and if the Wilpon meddling is real, then I guess it doesn't matter who's wearing the GM hat.
  24. It will be interesting to see if Alderson is allowed to continue if the Mets do end up as sellers at the deadline. Looking at his results, I can't see how anyone can justify allowing him to start another rebuild, however smart he may be. (or perceived to be)
