  1. If it weren’t so predictable.
  2. Get Lugo up. Gsellman. Win tonight. Jesus.
  3. Taking a long time to diagnose that hangnail.
  4. I know the pen is short and all. But you get Lugo on board. Everyone. Division leader. Win tonight first. Worry about Thursday on Thursday.
  5. Jesus. Sewald has nothing. Don’t know why Callaway can’t see that.
  6. Can’t let him face Albies.
  7. Sewald got nothing again.
  8. He came off the bag. Should have challenged

I can only guess that nobody that works for the Mets is an actual Mets fan. Because if I assembled a billion Mets fans in a room, not a single one of them would say "Hey I know, let's start Vargas on short rest." At least a hundred of those fans would volunteer to pitch themselves. 5 or 6 might suggest a tee. Both of those options would get more votes than short-rest Vargas.
  10. It's not clear what method he is using to rank his athletes. 2015 Ces hit 35 HR's and had an .870 OPS. 2016 Ces hit 31 HR's and had an .884 OPS.
  11. Are they counting his entire 2015 or just his Mets-related part? He had an .870 OPS overall in 2015. He had a higher OPS in both 2016 and 2017. And another season at .861 in his rookie season with Oakland.
  12. I just checked with Dr. Internet. He says strained finger ligaments are 3-6 weeks.
  13. The Reds are going nowhere and they got this starter who has an ERA of 3.72 and a 1.241 WHIP.

Gilkey had never done anything like his 1996. I was gonna guess Dykstra's 1993, but he had a top-notch season in 1990 as well. Yeah, I looked it up and the Hundley guess is pretty terrible. '96 wasn't even Hundley's best year in terms of OPS. '95 was also very solid, and he had a very good year (though injury shortened) with the Dodgers in 2000. I think I forgot Hundley ended up on the Dodgers.
  16. I would guess '96 Todd Hundley.

Losing both catchers at the same time hurt. But we haven't been "killed" by any stretch. All of the starting pitching has been healthy. They're just not very good. Our entire bullpen has been healthy except Swarzak. That is one significant pitching injury over the first 50 games. As of today, our starting CF, RF, 1B, 2B, SS, and C are all healthy. Our back up LF is our best hitter.
  18. If you're serious about making a run, then it's all hands on deck. The best hitters and pitchers are called up to the big league club, even if it possibly means starting the clock on them a year "early". Like 2015 with Conforto. That team had terrific pitching, but a terrible offense. Call up Conforto. Get Cespedes. Have Murphy turn into the machine he is now, and suddenly the Mets were on fire. This year, I don't see that they do anything well. The offense is bad. Even if you called up Alonso and hope he is 2015 Conforto, you don't have anything in the minors to bring in the next Cespedes. And the pitching, as we all can see, is nowhere near 2015. In other words, it would take a lot more than Alonso to save this season.
  19. Oh, Ani. You will always be that little boy on Tattoine.
  20. I mean, keep in mind, we are all dealing with symptoms rather than the underlying problem. What bothers me about the Mets is the owners. Everything else is a byproduct.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: They make too many mistakes. It seems like half the games they've managed to blow they've also managed to leave guy on 3rd base with less than 2 out. They get picked off and caught stealing a lot. The defense has been, if not outright bad, sloppy too much. Even if we were at full strength these execution issues would be screwing us. Oh and Jay Bruce. When's the last time this fucking guy had a home run? And speaking of mistakes, he misjudges a lot of balls in the outfield. So there was all that talk of having the flexibility to move him to 1B in case Gonzalez struggled. Well Gonzalez is struggling (.718 OPS) but Bruce is even worse. So what do you do? If the Mets were serious about making a run, they'd have to call up Alonso. But I don't know if the Mets are good enough to be serious contenders. So maybe you have to try out Dom Smith and move Alonso to AAA. I guess you give Dom Smith 2018 to see what he's got, then move him when Alonso is ready.
  22. Also, I don't know why they stop the track during Sweet Caroline to allow the crowd to sing "ba ba ba". No need to do that at all. And stopping the track makes it sound forced.
  23. Was shocked to check the score this morning and see that the Mets had won. Good job by the offense to rally after our starter gave back and early lead yet again.
