  1. Somebody will sign Ramos; he's an arm and everyone needs them. Comes down to Reyes and Jackson. I went with Jose; Austin looked slightly less cooked than Jose last year.
  2. Rajai Davis and now Gomez? I'm sniffing a last-week-of-spring Lagares trade.
  3. A full press conference for Jed Lowrie seems a bit much, or is that just me?
  4. Here I am!
  5. Keuchel? I’d be for it but sadly he probably wants more than what the Mets would be willing to pay.
  6. Probably because he hasn’t actually gotten a look at the ballot. At this point it’s second hand. He’s not ignoring it. That’s his tweet in the article.
  7. This guy has DH written all over him so I’d be worried no matter where the Mets played him. For only 1 year of control I’d likely pass.
  8. I concur on all. Although I always thought Burkhart was overrated by Mets fans. Why no Taylor? I sad. Also did I see somewhere (maybe here) that Zeile is replacing Nelson as the primary guy on Mets Pre and Post?
  9. Who will it be? I think Nimmo. But I don't want to give up Nimmo in this deal. Who should it be? None of the above.
  10. I’m not advocating including Nimmo but the Marlins are going to need something if we get Andujar and Thor moves across town. Can we trust Frazier to stay healthy?
  11. I would think if it’s Realmuto and Andujar coming to Queens we’d be giving something back to Miami as well. Nimmo would be my guess
  12. I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I don't see how this is entirely different from: - pulling the infield in with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs - playing corners in on a bunt situation - corner infielders guarding the lines in late game situations - moving your CF ten steps to the left or ten steps to the right depending on the batter These are all "shifts" to a certain extent.
  13. And they already have a solid core of still-controllable players (the four starters; plus Gselly and Lugo; plus Diaz; Conforto, Nimmo, McNeil, Rosario; with Alonso coming). That's 11-12 pieces that aren't costing you much. That's good! The Mets should be building on that, not trading them away. Let's go to battle with those 11-12 in place, then they don't even have to break the bank on a Harper or a Machado. If the payroll is not going to be in the same neighborhood as the MFYs/Sox/Dodgers/Cubs, how about signing one (or two) of Miller/Familia/Robertson/Ottavino; one of Grandal/Ramos; one vet 1B to keep Alonso's seat warm (a Reynolds/Adams/Bour type); one vet CF guy as a Cespedes placeholder (Adam Jones on a short deal? John Jay?). Yea, it's not opening up the checkbook like we'd like, but that would fill four spots of need (of varying degrees) by spending a bit. And maybe they show us they're willing to spend at least a little.
  14. Yeah I think Jeff believes he's showing that the Mets aren't to be messed with, but in reality it sounds kind of desperate. And I'd say that might explain why the return to Seattle was pricier than many (myself included) thought it should have been. Ann Richards quote on W kind of applies to Jeff whenever he speaks: "born with a silver foot in his mouth."
  15. I don’t like it even though I think it improves the team. Main dislikes: - on the hook for too much Cano $$. Should have gotten more salary relief. - don’t like giving up 2 of the organization’s best prospects. Certainly not for a closer with a 1-year track record. - generally skeptical about closers in general.
  16. Todd Frazier strikes me as one of those guys who could have a 1-year mini-resurgance as a St. Louis Cardinal. If not, he kind of profiles as a Brewer or Diamondback, though I have no idea of their needs/lack of needs at the hot corner.
  17. I'm now thinking about Swarzak. I was figuring on a bounceback, or at least healthy, year. I guess they're even more in the market for FA relievers now.

  19. Jeff Passan says significant momentum to these talks, meanwhile two Mets prospects names surface via Rosenthal (at least I hadn't heard their names in this deal before--we'd really consider dealing Kelenic in this trade?). [tweet:2c2eji4c] [/tweet:2c2eji4c] I don't know; an aging "name" player and a closer. This move has Omar's fingerprints all over it.
  20. Well, I mean, it was Papelbon.
  21. Trackie with a brief blurb saying the Mets and Tribe have talked about a swap for Yan Gomes. .762 OPS and 16 dongs for Cleveland last year. No details on what would go back to the Indians. https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/mets-indians-talk-yan-gomes-trade/301007552?fbclid=IwAR0HE4KAdtaGy9AhVW-GTkqK6ugY3INMvK-nstzhn4sZMxpcaX-mecE79LE Thoughts?
  22. If Tatis is really one of the top prospects in baseball (and IIRC Keith Law had him #1 at some point recently), and you're getting Tatis plus? That feels like a trade you really have to consider. And I'm not advocating to just trade Noah for the sake of trading him--even though in the last week I've been ready to deal him to the Cubs and now the Padres--but I'm getting tired of the perception from Mets twitter and FB that you can't trade starters because we should build the team around them. Well it's been five years and I'm still waiting. Our top three starters last year were great and where did it get us? I also don't expect the FO to open their wallets in FA, so I'm open to trying to get creative with trade partners.
  23. I get that Bryant had an injury last year, but Thor has made 32 starts over the last 2 years. He's as much or more of an injury risk. I don't see how the Mets could ask for more in this deal, at least not with a straight face. Bryant has three years of control left, he's 27, and has an MVP under his belt? Yeah, I have to make this trade (assuming all due diligence is done on Bryant's health).
  24. Can any catcher really "stop the running game" with Noah and Matz on the mound?
