  1. I thought he "lost the team" as they say in the industry with the Mariners. That and he tried to fight Chone Figgins in the dugout earlier this year. Oh, and should add, if "exciting the fan base" is something they're looking to accomplish with their hire, this won't do it.
  2. Struggling to come up with the seven. Bench, Rose, Morgan, Perez, Concepcion(?) and...?
  3. the team's traveling secretary and for Mets property that went missing from the clubhouse, including hundreds of bats, balls and jerseys. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2010/11/04/2010-11-04_mets_clubhouse_manager_charlie_samuels_linked_to_nypd_gambling_investigation_sus.html#ixzz14PmIN5f7 Shortly thereafter, this man's resume turned up in Sandy Alderson's in box.
  4. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Did he design em? Fired for a 'personal matter', if that's accurate at all, wouldn't indicate to me theft or anything illegal against the team. I would think if he got shitcanned because of roidy stuff, the org would wanna announce that (and may yet) to show the new sheriff in town is 'cleanin' this shithole up'. Maybe he was all wrecked on absinthe and crashed his car & smacked his wife (sorry, Charlie). Metsblog quoting Lennon wrote: Lennon corrected himself, he meant to say ongoing personnel matter, not personal. Linkie here http://www.metsblog.com/2010/11/04/mets-suspend-charlie-samuels-indefinitely/
  5. Update from Little Solo: the game will be aired this Saturday at 9 ET on MLB network.
  6. Came across Chris Russo reliving his Giants life, in two parts: Part I here; Part II here. If you can forget how much you couldn't stand Chris Russo, how grossly overcompensated he is for what he does and what a Met baiter he was when things weren't going swimmingly for us, it's not bad. He still says 'renember' instead of 'remember'.
  7. Eric Cammack??? Who I remember mostly for his lone MLB hit, a triple at Florida.
  8. Means he was 36 when he took the Reds to the WS in 1970--I didn't know that. And only 50 when he led the Tigers in '84.
  9. Never played again: Tim Corcoran??
  10. 86er in the Aughts: Rick Aguilera
  11. Little power in '09? Jason Bay, come on down!
  12. "Hi, my name is Wally. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents."
  13. Sounds like it, which leads you to believe something happened in the time since he was hired to manage Brooklyn. I imagine if they knew anything then, they would not have hired him in the first place. (this is responding to Bucket, not Edgy)
  14. Sun Times WHite Sox beat writer Joe Cowley...not to be confused with one-time White Sox pitcher with yips Joe Cowley.
  15. He finished how many games this year, 46? And that was in an injury shortened year where there were not that many save opportunities. If the Mets expect to be decent next year, then they can expect to have plenty of opportunities to save games, meaning I expect KRod to be over the 55 games finished mark. I also think that with Beltran, Castillo, and Perez coming off the books, the bump in KRod's contract from 11 mill to 17 mill will be easier to swallow. Having said all that, I hope he never pitches another game for the Mets.
  16. For bullpen depth, will the Wookie's demands be a little too rich?
  17. MLB Network is supposed to be airing the AFL all star game, not sure the date. Source: 7-year old little Solo, who watches MLBN religiously. (Seriously, last week he was looking through an old box of baseball cards and actually recognized Joe Magrane).
  18. The other future Met and SS is Shawon Dunston
  19. Both were guesses, I'm almost entirely certain on Raines, not as much so on Larkin.
  20. Rock Raines and Barry larkin
  21. Edgy DC wrote: I think it's perfectly consistent with good management to reward his success in the New York-Penn League with a raise and a promotion to the Eastern League. I agree. I think his overall minors experience both with the Mets and other organizations would call for a promotion within the system. And I think its better for Wally to take another job in the minors than be a bench coach with the big club. I'm also not opposed to him getting an opportunity to interview with the big club, and even get the job if Sandy thinks he's the best guy.
