  12. I question if the Almontes are really 25 and 17.
  13. I hear you. I suspect they might not have full video of all 20 games.
  14. Did they ever specifically say they would show the games in their entirety?
  15. 80 for me. Spent too much time on the 91 Rangers (3 guys with 200 hits!). I only got the one with the most recent Met connection.
  16. If you had made this a qwik qwiz, I would have gotten 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9 straight away. Probably would have gotten Palmer after a guess or two. Maybe after a while I would have gotten Foster and Cedeno. But I would have guessed until the feast of the Three Kings before I ever came up with Harrah.
  17. I got the 9-letter one, missed the 10 and 11.
  18. I could be wrong but I think the Steelers were still playing their home games there in 1960. That may have contributed to the chewed-up playing field. Also, I caught the postgame with Bob Prince, who I swear in 2 minutes must have talked to about 20 guys. Gold.

This survey provides more evidence that the Mets still probably care WAY too much about what their fans think. And with regards to the customer-care stuff, I think they are making a good effort with hospitality and service. Yes they are trying to steal from us, but I expect that. There were two different questions right? One was about the front office, one specifically referred to tthe owners. I think it was sorta ballsy of the Mets to include the question about the owners, knowing what the response will likely be.
  20. I watched a bunch of this last night (but not the whole thing ... don't spoil the ending!) with Little Solo. I have to admit I was giddy. I'd never seen a game at Forbes Field. Nor with Mantle, Maris, and Clemente (god he seemed so skinny)! No graphics on the screen, photographers on the roof! Even the Costas sidebars were fun. He brought along a program from the WS from his friend Tony Kubek, and it was revealed that Forbes didn't even sell beer in those days! I DVR'd it, and if it comes on again, I would recommend checking it out.
  21. The one that intrigued me more than any other was the Tigers-A's game from 1972. Good call, but I barely remember it. Shows somebody did some homework. Mostly forgotten classic series. There is probably a book to be written about the 1972 postseason. Twenty-five year anniversary of Jackie's first world series, he's there for game 1, and talks about the need for a black manager. Within weeks of the WS, Jackie is gone. Three years later the first African-American manager would happen. And for pure baseball? Wow. All three series went the distance. Of the 19 games, 11 were decided by one run. There were four walk-off wins, in which the home team trailed when they came up to bat, including the decisive game 5 of the NLCS. Then think of all the great personalities: Billy Martin, Reggie getting hurt, Catfish, Fingers, Rose, Bench, Sparky, Clemente, Pops. Toss in the Campy/Lerrin Legrow bat-throwing incident and the fact that a WS berth was decided on a wild pitch. An argument can easily be made that it was the best postseason ever.

But the 1977 loss in game five in Royals Stadium may have been worse...and it gets nearly none of the attention of the Chambliss game. Kudos to them for adding that game to this list. Regarding 2004, I'd argue that game 5, when the Sox trailed by 2 in the 8th and won it in 14 innings, was a better overall game than game 4, but I do realize the significance of game 4. 23. I guess they don't think Jesus Montero is the shit anymore.
