  2. I admire the effort that went into this.
  3. Edgy DC wrote: Kevin Baez hired to manage the Ducks. The Guy Said Kevin Baez! What does it say about Kevin Baez's career that whenever I hear his name the first thing I think of is Lunchbucket's old song parody about him?
  4. Didn't realize Collins had a DUI in his past.
  5. Two things I would like to add: Its tough, Halladay said. Felixs numbers are very, very impressive, but ultimately they look at how guys are able to win games. Who is "they" Roy? Actually, and thankfully, they don't, if the last two years' voting is an indication. Also, to the "didn't pitch in important games" crowd: how many really, really high leverage starts did Sabathia make this year? And I mean games where you say "if my team loses, we could be in trouble" starts? Was there any date on the calendar where anyone thought the Yanks would not make the postseason? So I don't buy that Sabathia was pitching in such pressurized situations.
  6. "It was not real long" (no, I'm not setting up FMan) I would probably be concerned if my second interview was a brief say hi to everybody thing.
  7. Elster should have had two...not sure if he was even credited with one. I saw the Burkhart part. He was lost. Oh, yeah, I forgot to add my two cents: Julie (sigh).
  8. Beer Money Honeys. Who Ya Got? Julie: Alexi: Amber:
  9. I saw her the other day on a new show. It was a "celebrity" one (terms used loosely). Contestants included Greg Buttle, kevin Burkhart and Chris Carlin. I have no idea who the guy co-host is. Amber looked better on the show than she did in the press picture above.
  10. Convention Center is right there too. I'm supposed to be heading out there in January. Looking forward to it.
  11. I had so removed Jerry from my consciousness I missed it. I'm guessing the thought process is similar each year, but judging from these results, the voting does show that in the minds of voters: - Winning means a lot (4 of the top 5 vote getters made the postseason; the winner was eliminated on the final day of the season) - Winning with "perceived less" means more: both Black and Baker led teams that no one thought had any chance before the season began. - There was a little, but not too much to swing many voters, of Bobby Cox sympathy. - I guess somebody in Houston has a sense of humor? I also wonder if the respective 1st place votes for Bochy, Manuel, and Cox came from their cities?
  12. It ain't my forum, but isn't this veering well into non-baseball forum territory? ON Edit: I'd like to apologize for sounding douchey.
  13. Not sure. Maybe Melvin and Hale are closer to Orlando? Just realized that all four were in the employ of the Mets organization last season. I guess I'm a little surprised that all finalists came from in-house.
  14. 21/32, for 66%. I can show my mama a passing grade.
  15. Mike Puma (definitely a porn name) What Mike Puma wears on set: Dammit, I want to click for details on how I can be 150% more awesome.
  16. Look at that great head of hair on Andy Messersmith!
  17. I assume wins, but don't know. But those cards did get my anger riled up about Seaver not getting the Cy in 1971. Additionally, that pic of Carlton on the Pitching Leaders card is the exact same pic as his regular 1971 card. Come on, Topps!
  18. I still think it's going to be Collins, so if the question is "who gets the job" Terry is my pick. If it's who do I want to get it, I'd rather take my chances on Hale. I'm not overly optimistic about guys who have had two chances without really distinguishing themselves. Give the guy who the players seem to like a chance. I don't think Backman gets past this round if he's meeting with the entire brain trust.
  19. Very nice. Two questions: 1. The asterisks...what are they for? 2. Is there something that made Jim Palmer "highly temperamental"? He always struck me as pretty bland.

My wife keeps me up to date on this , Alomar's family have closed ranks down there and his Mom is fighting mad.....and winning the public battle...in the latest this picture of Maripily emerged , all the while she's been claiming emotional breakdown yyybb He is wearing the #8...I think this is Gary Carter.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: Because maybe they weren't down to the final two. This. With a new regime in place, I'm really not sure how much the sources for all the local scribes really know.
  22. batmagadanleadoff wrote: That's Gary Carter squatting on the left side of his 1988 Topps Big card. No doubt about it. I have a doubt. I don't think it looks at all like Gary Carter.
  23. Shinjo.
  24. Player on Carter card: wearing Nike. Sasser on his own card: wearing Pony. (Which proves nothing of course)
  25. Ronn Reynolds maybe? Longish, dark hair. Both Kid and Reynolds wore Nike spikes in the photos I could find, so that doesn't offer any clues.
