Having recovered from the shock of baseball talk on ESPN radio, I switched stations. If you hadda bet, would you bet on his unanimous selection? Breaking Seaver's % vote record? Not unanimous. I'd bet on that. He could beat Seaver's percentage, though. I wouldn't take that action. I look at his selection as similar to Cal Ripken's, who got I think 537 of 545 votes; Jeter will probably get all except the "I don't vote for first ballot guys" or 'I don't vote for steroid era guys" votes. Be prepared for months of "Jeter should be the first unanimous HOF selection" articles in about four and a half years.
  3. I have no memories at all of the uniform design worn by Abreu and WIlkins above.
  4. Yup, he supposedly posted a pic on his Instagram. Good thing for Matt that his current employer didn't have any engagements tonight. Oh...
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Drew's up. I hadn't realized, but Shmeter is DHing. Gotta keep those legs healthy for... something. All over now, as ex-Mets great Darren O'Day gets Gardner looking to end it with the Captain on deck. Ryan played short today; I assume Drew was playing second? It's officially Elimination Day!
  6. They'll open the doors and keep people there to 5 AM if they have to.
  7. They haze minor league trainers? Learn something new every day. Poor lady is keeping up appearances, but inside she has to be thinking "I don't need this shit."

I'm glad someone said something. Tired of being told by just about everyone that this Gatorade thing is the most bestest, classiest, and most touching thing ever done. Heaven forbid anyone suggest that Jeter is not Babe Ruth, the Pope, and Mandela all rolled into one.
  9. The one on the far right looks like deGrom's squeeze.
  10. Second from left looks a bit like the ESPN intern that Steve Phillips schtupped.
  11. Jeff Samardzia...five starts this season giving up 0 runs. His teams are 0-5 in those starts.
  12. not Mets-related, but if you are a Jets fan, the Jets Postgame on SNY is a must-watch.
  13. ESPN says he's out the remaining 17 regular season games, then the first 8 postseason games assuming they play 8. He'd be eligible in their 9th postseason game, perhaps as early as game 4 of the LCS. And while we're talking about the AL stretch drive, Fuck you Chris Young.
  14. oh, boy. Sometimes you think Jeff can't come off as a bigger dick, then you read this complaint. Her supervisor and the HR director don't come off any better.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: If Familia gets a fourth PiotM award and then suffers a catastrophic elbow injury (a la Parnell and Wagner), we will know the curse of Brian Stokes is real. Oh, it's real.
  16. That did NOT look like a swing by Duda.
  17. The amazing thing about that article is that Todd Zeile actually hit a home run in 2001.
  18. "Skip's been listening to Annie Savoy a bit too much, I think."
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Ike totally will end up as a Yankee next year --- start off pinch-hitting and defensive replacing. Then an injury will force him into the lineup where a run of warm weather and short-porch feasting will give him a solid four-to-six weeks, with Yankee fans a-gloating, before he Overbays back to earth. So you're saying that their regular first baseman has a problem staying on the field?
  20. Also, in last night's Philly-Chicago game, a kid on Philly rocketed a ball off the center field fence...on a check swing! As a father whose son just turned 11 and watches a lot of youth baseball, some of the bats these kids have now are insane.
  21. Been watching a lot. I'm on Team Chicago all the way. Mo'Ne was a nice story, but maybe the SI cover jinx did her in... 1-for-9 in the LLWS and her last start 2 innings, 3 runs, 6 hits plus an error at first base.
  22. I went to the 12:10 start against Philly a few weeks back, and they didn't update the cards for that start either. Little Solo noticed first, and shook his head. He's learning.
  23. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Tejada to PH. This is where Bobby Abreu would have come in handy Yeah but then Kirk wouldn't have been here to make those two plays.
  24. A walk! A baserunner! Good job Dreamboat Kirkie. Do you send him with Tejada up and 2 outs?
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Mars Needs Baserunners 15 in a row don't reach. Come on Kirk.
