  1. That's good. I like that. Can never get enough of the Jets Flight Crew, either. But all things considered, I still believe Namath will get the spotlight to himself one day.
  2. I'd be shocked if Namath wasn't included. Probably in the top 10. Just keep him away from the female front office staff.
  3. Triple Dee wrote: According to Adam Rubin of the Daily News, Alou will begin his rehab with St Lucie Mets on the weekend. What are the chances Alou tweaks some other body part on his rehab assignment and misses another three weeks?
  4. As a fellow dad of two youngins, I don't believe he would have been horsing around and setting a bad precedent for the kids. But that's me. I remember the mid 80s death to the point that I always walk down the ramps when leaving Shea. Also, I always wondered about the escalators, both at Shea and in the Garden. Why did they only go up? Couldn't they reverse them for after the game?
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: ="Gwreck"] Church batting second Castillo batting eighth I like this. I'd like it even more if Castillo was batting 8th...for New Orleans.
  6. If you do it properly, by honoring and remembering people and events from Shea's past, I think it is a good thing. Look at G-Fafif's countdown like it oughta be. It can be done right, it's just that, after 6 games, it appears the Mets are looking at this more as a promotion opportunity for their sponsors and properties than a truly cool event fans can wrap themselves up in.
  7. I went on Sunday, from Orange County with 2 kids, so public transportation was not an option. We got there an hour before first pitch, and there were plenty of spots behind the left field area of CitiField. I was surprised actually at how many. It wasn't that hard to get out of after the game either. I think for a weeknight game, as long as you get there a little early, parking should not be a problem. But, for $15, if you have an alternative like BG suggests ( a spot somewhere on the #7 line), you could do that too.
  8. Still unresolved: will we actually get a Met, or ex Met, to unveil the number on this homestand?
  9. Centerfield wrote: According to the NY Post, Pedro is pushed back to mid-May, possibly June. Right after the injury, I predicted a June 12 return for Pedro. Now who knows? Here is part of espn.com story: Pedro Martinez reportedly won't be back anytime soon to wake up the lethargic-looking New York Mets. General manager Omar Minaya told the New York Post for Tuesday's editions that the team doesn't expect the injured Martinez to return to the mound for the Mets until the middle of May or possibly June. "We're definitely going to be more conservative with him," Minaya told the Post. "With hamstrings, you just never know. We've got to be careful." Martinez suffered a left hamstring strain in his first start of the season. It was diagnosed as a mild hamstring strain and at the time, he was expected to miss four to six weeks. Minaya told the Post that the Mets' doctors have ruled out Martinez's return before the six-week mark of his recovery.
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I wonder if MLB issues directives saying what the between-innings features should be, in some misguided belief that uniformity is desirable. (It is, after all, the approach they took with the team websites.) "Thou Shalt Have a Kiss-Cam" Ahh, the Kiss Cam. Two years ago they put a couple on the scoreboard and the crowd lustily booed as they did not kiss. If you read lips, the woman was frantically saying "it's my brother, it's my brother."
  11. I was there yesterday. I was shocked how many people around me knew the lyrics to Buttercup without looking at the scoreboard.
  12. Not surprisingly, GFafif's list is blowing away the real life list. Could we get at least one ex-Met on this first homestand?
  13. Why isn't None of the Above an option? where is the voice for the fan who doesn't want to sing along like sheep being led to the slaughter? And lest we forget about Rick Astley, wasn't Together Forever a Shea staple in the late 80s, with video highlight montages on the Diamond Vision?
  14. Haven't seen a thread for this for the new season. I scored four seats for Sunday against the Brew Crew, Suppan v. Ollie, shades of the '06 playoffs.
  15. zI guess we're the only team that can't hit Gordon.
  16. I missed this earlier. Why is Easley in at second?
  17. Zvon wrote: 4-2. Rollins hits an RBI single to right, a one hopper under Delgado's outstretched glove. I'm following on gametracker. Do I read this as "Delgado should have had it"?
  18. I guess getting rid of Mota was not addition by subtraction for our bullpen.
  19. Thanks Aaron. Walks Ruiz to lead off the 8th.
  20. The Phillies are involved in this now?
  21. I had to pass up a ticket due to work. Gametracker for me, I guess.
  22. Nice AB and hit there by Church Probably too little too late.
  23. Wow. What did Rick ever do to Nick?
  24. Willie on the FAN right now, says Pedro is probably having the MRI right now. Even without the results yet, anyone up for guessing when we'll next see Pedro pitching for the Mets? I'll set my expectations low and say June 10 against the Diamondbacks at Shea.
