  1. That is just the first of an avalanche of similar articles we're going to see in the next few weeks. How silly will they look when the LAAAAA knock the MFYs out of the playoffs?Later
  2. Edgy DC wrote: Fixed. Edgy, I did like the story you posted. Didn't mean to ask you to delete the entire thread. But I felt the large print announcement of his return was a little overkill. Sorry, Later
  3. Sigh. Those last posts on a page are rarely read. Later

  6. Jeff Keppinger was recalled yesterday from KC's AAA Omaha team. He had been hitting .354 there. Later
  7. JD, thanks. I missed one of Bell's moves. And he has a chance to beat Flores if Flores stays up and Heath gets recalled again when rosters expand. Good catch. Later
  8. You think he's been up and down a lot this year? ]Ron Flores, relief pitcher for the A's. He's young, lefthanded and has a pulse. He's spent so much time riding the Capitol Corridor between Sacramento and Oakland that all the conductors know him by name. In total, he's been with the big club four times. He's currently with the A's while Huston Street is on the disabled list. The Ron Flores 2006 Timeline: -Started the season in Sacramento. -April 28: recalled when Rich Harden was placed on the DL. appeared in eight games. -June 4: sent back to Sacramento when Harden was activated. -June 18: recalled when Steve Karsay (finally) retired. appeared in seven games (including a four-inning stint during an extra-inning victory in San Diego -- got credit for the "W"). -July 17: sent back to Sacramento when the club called up Jason Windsor. -July 27: recalled when Scott Sauerbeck was placed on the DL. appeared in two games. -August 14: sent back to Sacramento when both Joe Kennedy and Sauerbeck were activated. -August 20: recalled when Huston Street was placed on the DL. has yet to appear. Stay Tuned Later

  11. ]nobody else will get as many as 10 wins Orlando Hernandez has 9 wins. You don't think he will get at least one more? Later
  12. ="Edgy DC"]Zaun, by the way, is a transaction-fanatic's dream. He was a PtBNL early in his career, and later was dealt as part of an even more fascinating specimen, a "conditional deal." He's run the full gamut of transaction types: Drafted and signed. Traded (several times) Traded as part of conditional deal (twice) Put on waivers/released. (Which means he was DFA) Declared / signed as a free agent. Didn't see any suspensions (drug or other reason). And, he may be the only member of the Blue Jays who hasn't taken a swing at John Gibbons, but we can't verify that. Later
  13. Is there any doubt that this thread is worthy of archiving? But maybe that should wait until we resolve how many Angels can fit on the head of a pin. Later
  14. Thanks, Later
  15. Yancy - about your list. You say they were "active" in 2005. Is that limited to the majors? I noticed that Craig Brazell played at Norfolk in 2005, but had no time in the majors. He is currently hitting .253 ,21HR, 88 RBI for Jacksonville in the Southern League. Later
  16. As I said, just my opinion based on personal observation. But I guess you could say its a case of limited plate appearances. If the numbers prove me wrong, so be it. On the other hand, he is a switch hitter. That might come in handy against a tough righty if they want to give LoDuca a rest. As for the Lecter comment (and the Conan one in the other thread), I'm apparently having an anger management problem today. Please bear with me. Later
  17. Edgy DC wrote: Schmoll is a northpaw, and one with a 4.69 ERA at Northfolk. And with a similar sidearm delivery to Bradford. Having two guys like that on the same staff could reduce the effectiveness of both of them, as opposing batters would have additional chances to see that kind of delivery. Later
  18. Johnny Dickshot wrote: ]As for Zaun, he is awful. No he isn't. I think he has a problem playing on a "big stage". I've watched him play more them a few games against the Yankees the past few years, and I only remember him getting one hit- a single. I don't think he has the right stuff. Just my opinion. Later
  19. Edgy DC wrote: Give Tom Nieto 10 minutes with Stinnett. I'd rather give Hannibal Lecter 10 minutes with Waldmann. Later
  20. Are we really concerned about the Braves not winning the NL East title? I'll be happy when they are eliminated from any possibility of the Wild Card. That is the magic number that's important to me. Based on the pain they've inflicted on the Mets over the years, I now defer to Mr. Conan the Barbarian for a quote about what I'd like to see the Mets do to the Braves. "Crush your enemies. Drive them before you. Hear the lamentations of their women." Later
  21. Johnny Dickshot wrote: I imagine if he manages to suck only a little they'll hand him DiFelice's job; otherwise they've gotta go find Rod Barajas or Gregg Zaun, in spite of MFS62's objections. LOL! Good, but selective, memory. You forgot that I added that I would gladly see Barajas on the Mets for the good of the team. As for Zaun, he is awful. But Stinnett was awful, too - offensively and defensively -when he played for the Yankees earlier this year. I can just hear the Yankee fans, if and when he is added to the roster. The sneers will be led by Suzyn Waldmann, who basically rode him out of town on a rail by highlighting his every failing. Later
  22. I don't think it was a coincidence that David started to slump when Floyd got injured. This season's stats aside, I don't think other teams perceived Valentin to be as much of a threat as Cliff. So David was trying to do too much as other teams weren't giving him good pitches to hit. It may be my imagination, but Wright got more hittable pitches last night with Green batting behind him. And his going to right was a good sign. That is what he was doing when he was hitting well. Later
  23. Edgy DC wrote: Of greater concern is the glut of pitching has the Mets perhaps with too few bench players --- DiFelice, Franco, Woodward, and Tucker ---- to get their stars adequate rest. The regulars will only have to "guts it out" for a few more days until the rosters expand. But it does put a crimp in Willie's in-game flexibility until then. Later
  24. From an article about Shawn Green in today's Daily News. When Delgado was asked if Shawn was any good at Salsa dancing at Carlos' wedding, Carlos said; "Of course not. That's why we made him do it". Later
  25. Me, too. To quote Lucy (in Peanuts), "I never make mistakes. I thought I made one once, but I was wrong". ater
