  1. You could say that yesterday was a day of non-traditional triple happiness, too. The Mets won. They got that great news about Tom Glavine. They got a professional hitter for the stretch/playoff run (and Floyd's replacement for next year) Later
  2. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Or, on the other hand, maybe it's Milledge whose spot is in jeopardy. I'd guess that Lastings stays. With the addition of Green as most likely a regular, Lastings is the only pure righty hitting outfielder. I don't count Woodward as an outfielder, even though he could play there once in a while. Later
  3. Fukk, that guy is good. Later
  4. Prince Albert with a 3 run dinger. 3-1 Cards. Maine needs to call a vet. He has problems with his gopher. Later
  5. Can someone please give Mr. Delgado a KABOOM? EDIT: Thank you. Later
  6. I think this is a fine time for the fans at field level to remind Weaver that he's pitching in New York. (In case he didn't remember his performances with that other NY team) Later
  7. I'm still trying to forget Dallas, as a pitcher and a manager. Thanks a lot. Later
  8. For Evan MacLane http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2557946 Later
  9. Lundy wrote: MFS62, the KTE is a video posted on Youtube. I'll try and post it elsewhere. Saw it when I got home. Great job, as I said in the new thread. But that deserved saying it again. Later
  10. That was great. Like Scarlett, I now hat you for setting the KTE bar so high. Later
  11. According to my friend out there, an Arizona sports radio station is reporting that Evan is on his way as the PTBNL in the Shawn Green deal. EDIT: Its official: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2557946 Later
  12. they are trying to get one named after a Jewish patriarch. John Heyman just reported on WFAN Radio (5:30 PM) that Omar is in negotiations with SF to get Moises Alou. . Heyman said Omar prefers Alou because he has a higher SLG pct than Shawn Green, "who is fading" and the money is less. The holdup is how quickly the SF GM feels his team is "out of the race" Some thoughts: The Mets have wandered in the NL wilderness for 20 years. Can he perform a miracle and lead them to the promised land? Another holdup will be deciding who will be the designated hand shaker when he joins the team. Later
  13. He can afford to buy his own prize. You get it for posting the right words at the right time. Don't be modest. Go for it, tateleh! Later
  14. OlerudOwned wrote: "a Minor Leaguer" Ooh, suspense. I would hope that means one who is not on the 40 man roster. Later
  15. ScarletKnight41 wrote: Take that Mel Gibson! Ding! Ding! Ding! A winnnnahhhh! Missy Scarlett, please report to the front desk to claim your prize. Later
  16. So much for John Heyman's "scoop". Thanks, Later
  17. I looked for it and missed it on p6. Later
  18. While he was warming up for last night's rehab game with Brooklyn, Ramon Castro injured his knee. He was taken to the hospital and was seen using crutches. (NY Daily News early edition) Later
  19. Lundy, is it posted on a personal web site? The security software on the computer I'm using doesn't permit me to view it. Can you please re-post (copy and paste) it as a new thread here on the CPF site without using a link? Thanks, Later
  20. O/O's fill-in post was pretty good. Later
  21. Abreu is 31 years old, according to the Binghamton roster. I believe this is his first year of US baseball. (Was he a Cuban refugee?) He has been hitting well at AA, with some power. Maybe the Mets are preparing him to take over the Julio Franco, old-guy, backup first baseman, righty pinch hitter, roster spot when Franco's contract expires after next year. Joe Smith is on the fast track too,eh? Later
  22. Funny stuff. If you folks are going to continue this way, please let me know so I can take my sarcasm tolerance pills. Later
  23. Edgy DC wrote: "He'd be ugly even if he was White". I never quite get this. I think I do. From what I remember, Gibson had the reputation as an "Angry Black Man" during the times when much of the country was still coping with integration. He was very sensitive to racial stereotypes. I think this comment was his attempt at a canard (is that a correct usage?), saying that White folks could be as ugly as Black folks were "supposed to be". I could be way off on that, but its the way I interpreted it. Later
  24. Met luck - the medication they will now put him on probably contains steroids. Later
  25. ="Frayed Knot"]Initially it looked like it might be just a nepotism promotion, but LFer Chris (son of long-time LaRussa pitching coach Dave) Duncan has been bopping the ball to the tune of .345/.401/.661 with 14 HRs and 23 XBHs in just 168 ABs in this, his first go-'round in the major leagues. Holy Mike Jacobs Batman! I knew he hit homers in each of the games in the recent Cubs series, but I didn't realize he was hitting that well against real pitching staffs, too. Later
