  1. ="seawolf17"] Ooh! PotG haiku! Is that what that was? I thought it was something out of Clue. Later
  2. Ditto, Vic and Wolf. I don't want any game or series to be decided by something like a fan interference or umpire call. Because if that happens, AL/ Yankee fans will moan that they needed help or luck to beat a good team. I want the Mets to blast through the post season, winning it all, by delivering good old fashioned ass whippings to their opponents. And if they have to beat up on teams that aren't their toughest competition, so be it. Later
  3. I was astounded that Jeff Keppinger, long lauded as an "OBP" guy went up there in the ninth and swung at the first pitch. (He made an out) Yes, I watched part of a Yankee game. Forgive me. I feel dirty, but I actually wanted to see Kepp play. Later
  4. Dad, that one still works for me. LOL! Later
  5. ]Led Mets in slugging percentage with .266 in 1972. Then that Baseball Digest rookie report on him was correct when it said he had "good power for a shortstop". Later
  6. Depends on who his agent is. Later
  7. "The Wizzard of Walk-Offs"? feh and, ]I fully encourage you all to refrain from votion. Is "votion" a word? Later
  8. ="Yancy Street Gang"]I wonder if he said ii desu for Kaz Matsu's first Mets homer. That, also, means, "It is good." Gee, you learn new things every day around here. I didn't know Howie was Japanese. Later
  9. Did anyone hear Howie Rose's radio call of Green's first homer as a Met? When it went over the wall, Howie said "Zei Gazunt", which roughly translated from Yiddish means "that is good". I bet he had that line warming up in the bullpen from the day the Mets got Green. Later
  10. Yancy's numbers look good to me: Delgado 3 Williams 3 Green 1.5 Valentin 1 Feliciano 0.5 Mota 0.5 Wagner 0.5 Later
  11. Perez 5 Chavez 1 Green 1.5 Woodward 1 Reyes 1 Franco .5 Later
  12. Mr. Delgado. With the tie-breaking ball. Over the fence. Later
  13. And don't forget the lime in that Corona. Later
  14. I can't wait for them to return to LA so I can start rooting for the San Andreas Fault again. Man, I hat that team. Later

  16. Yancy Street Gang wrote: With four of those games against Florida, this is a tough stretch for the Phillies that could make or break them. I don't want to break them right now, because that would mean the other would get a big leg up in the WC chase. I'd just prefer they bend a little, rooting for a split. Later
  17. SteveJRogers wrote: And he DOES IT! Anibal Sanchez hurls the Majors first No-Hitter since Randy Johnson for the Diamondbacks May 18, 2004! Is it my imagination or did the last runner beat the throw to first? Funny how we never saw a replay. Later

  19. Well, as I said, I have only been told about porno staches. And his looks like it qualifies to me. Porno is in the eye of the beholder, or so sayeth the Supreme Court. Later
  20. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Forgive my ignorance, but... What's so pornographic about Valentin's mustache? Its dark black, big and thick - like the stick-on staches they used to put on porno actors to try to hide their identities. (I've been told) Later

And a mention for Stubby Clapp - one of the great names anywhere. Later
  22. Its still 11:59 for Williams. Later
  23. Off the top of my head -The Phillies have Cole Hamels, Ron Wolf and Jamie Moyer. I'll check the others and post/edit here if I find a potential playoff opponent with more than two lefty starters. Edit: LA - nope Hou - nope StL - nope Reds -nope, but four pretty effective lefty relievers. Yes, its the Phillies who scare me. Later
  24. metirish wrote: From the Times article today. ] Willie Randolph said he did not anticipate having a postseason need for any of the players who were recalled when rosters expanded last Friday. I hope he changes his mind and adds Lastings. This team needs a righty hitting outfielder because I think they will see a lot of lefty starters. And Green had some goshawful swings against lefties this past week. Later
  25. Is that the widest margin of victory on record? Over 4 1/2 points is significant with scores in the 20's. Later
