  2. And several sports tv shows prefaced that with film (tape?) of Knoblach beaning Keith Olberman's (sp?) mom with a throw in a game 10 years ago. One guy commented that there were about 20 family members in attendance, and Span knew where they were sitting. It looked to me that he ran over there so fast he was trying to beat the ball to his mom. Later
  3. Kudos to Edgy, for providing the definitionotto of the year. And the Joe Randa mention brought a tear to my eye. Later
  4. The devil on my shoulder is whispering that they didn't want Figgy to look too good for too long. The Angel on my other shoulder is whispering that Jerry wanted to look at a lot of pitchers today. Which one should I listen to? Later
  5. I knew it must be a joke. After all, isn't HGH supposed to improve performance? Later
  6. Yes, but it was a lash with a wet noodle. Tongue in cheek with no real harm intended. I have no real "whipping boys" on this team. I want Ollie to succeed as much as the rest of you. Later

    You're Cut

Jacobs is starting at first base today. Manuel has noted that Jacobs "can catch", but he hasn't done that for years. Carter has been played a lot of OF in ST, including one game in center field. IMO the decision on keeping them will boil down to where Jerry feels he has the most backup need. And (I hope) the optioning of Martinez may open that OF spot for Carter. Later
  8. March 31, 2010 Disassociated Press By: A Staff Writer New Product Announcement Pharmaceutical Company Ely Lilly announced the release of a new medicine this morning. The product is an emetic, and will be called Ollie. A company spokesperson said,"Taking one Ollie capsule will have the same effect as watching Oliver Perez pitch. It will immediately make you throw up." The product is being test marketed in the New York City area, for National release later in the baseball season, when fans around the country will have seen him pitch. ******************************************************************************* Later
  9. But I saw him perform under the brightest lights, and he was magnificent, unmatched in my time covering the game. Take THAT Roger Clemens. Thank you, Marty. Later
  10. Daniel Murphy, thy name is Wally Pipp? It doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Later

    Boo! 2010

Were those opening day odds? Then I guess that just means that each of them will have 161 more opportunities to turn those boos to cheers. Later

    Boo! 2010

Edgy DC wrote: I swear I wrote Daniel there. But there it is... David. I've conflated our corner infielders. Booo, me! Boo you? Of course not. Some of us Mets fans are forgiving. But you will be the subject of many signs on the next banner day. Later

    Boo! 2010

Fun stuff, Edgy. Does this mean you are thinking of officially naming a Carlos Delgado - they'll boo me no matter how good I am - roster spot? Please don't. I agree with JCL - the schmucks who are going to boo, will. And they shouldn't. Later
  16. Nice article the brought me more than one tear. I would have added Piazza's post 9/11 home run that jump started New York's heart and soul. Later
  17. I haven't been voting in recent years because of my work schedule. I don't get to see most of the games and I can't get a full picture just from the box scores (e.g.- game saving defensive plays). But I still follow the threads after each game. Thank you for the effort. Later

    You're Cut

Didn't see this anywhere on the CPF, but among all the cuts, I noticed that the Mets re-signed my one-time adoptee Henry Owens. Welcome back home, kid. I kept the light on for ya'. Later

    The Lineup

The blogger (Dr. Roto) also had done catchers: He had Dickey, Carter, Campy, Piazza and (his #1) Berra. But I am still waiting for his first NY Giant. Maybe he does know something, so I might watch. Later

    The Lineup

When I first saw the promos for that series, I wondered if it would be worth watching. Thanks for letting me know it isn't. I did notice there will be ten episodes. Anyone know if the tenth is for a DH or a reliever? Or will Jeter have a show of his own? Later
