  1. Good knowledge. Later
  2. There shouldn't be an apostrophe s in the headline. Everything else was good to read. Later
  3. Last out of the game 5-3, cleanly played. How ironic to Mets fans who had hoped for that result in Dickey's game - twice. Later
  4. There is precedent for an official scorer changing a ruling after the game. Used to happen all the time. But I'm not sure if it has been done for a no-hitter. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Philly still battling in Mini-soda (maybe that's where Bloomberg should be Mayor). Bring back the BOC! What would RA's numbers look like if you took out that one soggy start? Later
  6. Matt went 1-4 in his AAA debut, with an RBI double and 2 Ks. Later
  7. Rubin's minor league report from today: A scout who recently watched Binghamton said there were three definite major leaguers on the Double-A team -- prized pitching prospect Zack Wheeler, Matt den Dekker (who just was promoted to Buffalo) and right-hander Collin McHugh. McHugh (5-4, 2.48 ERA) was described as a “Dillon Gee type.” Said the scout: “He’s going to pitch in the big leagues. For sure.” Later
  8. Edgy DC wrote: I guess it's time to come clean. I'm Keith Hernandez. Then I'm Gary Cohen. Think about it - when was the last time I posted during a game? (Those of you who have met me, hush.) Later

  10. Ugh. But at least Dickey won't have to pitch in the rain. Later
  11. Does the Trop have a full time dome, or can it be retracted? I'm leery about how the knuckler will perform in conditioned, windless air. Later
  12. Finally! A Devilishly good KTE. Oh, wait. They can't say that any more. So, good job. Later
  13. So I get to work yesterday and someone hands me a message. It says: "Someone called to speak to you. His customer number is xxxxxxxxxx. I couldn't get his name. Bad connection. Call him". So I go into the customer database, and the name of that customer is someone named- Russell Martin. Anyone else get any ribbing from Yankee fans yesterday? Any of it clever? Later
  14. When the Mets got Sammy Taylor in 1962, I thought they got Hawk. (who, IIRC, was a highly regarded prospect) Then, when they got Hawk, I was excited. RIP, Hawk. Later
  15. He was promoted to Buffalo today. Later
  16. They did such a good job reenacting it that it makes me wonder - did Mookie miss first base? Later
  17. Wilmer went 2-6 with a walk, a double and 2 RBI in yesterday's 14 inning St. Lucie win. Most significant, he started the game at second base. No DPs, but no errors, either. (Don't know how many chances for each) Later
  18. Edgy DC wrote: Day games in St. Louis can be awful, heat-wise. Back in the artificial turf days, it could get up to 140 degrees --- literally like an oven. I'm sure it's a simple case of dehydration. IIRC, Casey Stengel said, "This place holds the heat very well". Later
  19. No, really. Check out the glove in picture # 12. http://www.newstimes.com/local/articleGallery/Local-vintage-baseball-club-a-blast-from-the-past-3622434.php#photo-3052077 Later
  20. How do they compare in career errors? Later
  21. Moth-R Fuck-R. The worst part was, well, there were and are going to be a lot of worst parts, letting the rat-faced-boy off the hook. Now I'll have to face an office full of YLDBs tomorrow. Crap! Later
  22. Ceetar wrote: I actually don't really dislike Swisher, he seems like a fun guy. So anti-Yankee. anyway, Josh and Howie got on him a bit at the start. joking about how many times he said 'man' in his Ed Coleman Mets Extra interview and comparing him with a character from ..some movie which sounded like a stoner movie. High Times at something High? Ridgemont High. I don't recall if there were more stoners in the audience or in the cast. Later
  23. You are right. It WAS more obscure. Do I get any points for trying? Later
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: So can anyone guess why this pitching match up makes me think of Rickey Nelson? Poor little fool? or do you mean I Got a Feeling? Later
  25. His 5 for 5 tonight makes him 16 for his last 24. I think he's up over .330 now. Later
