  1. But we didn't get no satisfaction. Later
  2. FSL player of the week. http://www.amazinavenue.com/2015/6/1/8700541/mets-prospect-smith-named-florida-state-league-player-of-the-week Later

Was anything mentioned about it in the post-game interviews? Nothing on Geico-Sports Night this morning. Since he stayed in the game, it looks like it was just a twinge. (knocking wood) Later
  4. And Groucho Marx said he'd never be a member of a club that would want him to be its President. Later
  5. Although they drafted him, Alan Zinter never played for the Mets. Neither did Steve Swisher.(Don't remember him being a coach) But I didn't remember seeing Rod Gaspar batting righty, either. But he did (he was a switch hitter). Later
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: And if Shoeless Joe turned out to be a Communist, he then would have been the first red Black Sock. As opposed to Curt Schilling who was famous for his red white sock. Later
  7. By some strange coincidence, his next scheduled start is within a day of Matz' next scheduled start. I voted disabled with a bogus injury. The only bad side of that is that a player can't be traded while on the DL. Later
  8. That guy Bour is a real pain in the ass. Later
  9. From the time he hit his first major league homer off Josias Manzanillo of the Mets, I have disliked him - intensely. Why should I start liking him now? Later

  11. He went 4-4 with a triple and 3 RBI last night, raising his BA to .270. Later
  12. A Jerry Lumpe* reference. I'm really f'n impressed. Nice job! Later * You know, the guy who platooned with Andy Carey.
  13. Chris Aguila? I had to check that one out. Sure enough, he was on the Mets, too. How soon we forget. Sigh. Later
  14. Actually, he already does. Have you checked his Facebook page recently? And he seems to be enjoying it. But they must be MFY dicks, because it looks like he needed more than 200 of them to make a noose. Later
  15. Some people called him Captain Kirk. I called him The Dutch Treat, because I thought he would make the other teams pay. In the end, one team did pay (for him). Later
  16. My favorite moment was when a guy in the office came back from a break and told me the Mets had won 7-0, with Duda hitting 2 home runs. I had forgotten it was a day game. I like those kinds of surprises. Later

  18. Zvon wrote: Buddy Harrelson is one of my fav Mets SS of all time and I never expected him to hit more homers than make errors. It's all about expectations. I still remember the Baseball Digest minor league/ rookie scouting issue in which Bud Harrelson was described as having "good power for a shortstop". Once I saw Bud play, I never trusted those reports again. Later
  19. From the Simon article: 1. We noticed that Flores looks like he's doing a good job of shading himself to account for the batter's tendencies and bat side. I think that may be helping him get to some balls that not every player makes. That's funny because it is the explanation MFY fans would give when talking about Jeter's limited range. I've also used it to describe how NL MVP Dick Groat played short. (IIRC it was in my Historic KTE about the 1960 Pirates) Later
  20. He's 29. Do lefties really "develop later" or is that a myth? He struck out 2 in 9 IP last night. Maybe he has learned to command all of his pitches to be effective. We may soon find out. Later
  21. I don't know. When he was brought up, it was reported that he'd start today's game. Didn't read anything about the games after that. We'll find out. Later
  22. Reynolds has been in a slump lately, and his average has dropped to around .285-.290. I think they'd rather bring up a player who has been on a hot streak if they're going to install him as a regular. If Reynolds rights himself, they'll bring him up at what they feel is the appropriate time. Later
  23. They're coming back to New York and bringing Danny Muno with them. I heard after the game (WFAN?) that he's been recalled, and Monell sent down. Well, we were expecting they'd add an infielder ... Later
  24. Things have gone in the terlet since the words "Opening Day" have vanished from the IGT titles. Someone please change this one to something like "A Niese Opening Day in Pittsburgh". The winning will start again, I betcha'. But, who you calling superstitious? Later
