  1. I hope Patrick Corbin isn't a descendent of Alexander Corvinus, the first of the immortals.* Then he would be half Lycan/ half vampire, and more powerful than both. Later *= references the series of Underworld movies.
  2. Gwreck wrote: Tough to complain about Megdal having an agenda if posts here are going to have a preemptive agenda against him. No it isn't. He actually makes it very easy. Later
  3. In case you didn't read about it, Logan Verrett pitched five shutout innings in a start for Las Vegas last night. Just saying. Later
  4. Megdal will tell us that if it weren't for the Bernie Madoff scam, the Wilpons would have had enough money to afford the diagnostic equipment that could have spotted this before it became serious. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Pythag says they should be 49-38 instead of 39-48 and that disparity is thought to be what's keeping them on the fence as the trading deadline approaches. What that tells me is that they have enough hitting and may be in the market for some (relief) pitching. Sounds like they might be interested in ,say, Parnell for a hitter. Later
  6. Where is Montero, and what is the timetable for his return? Still out? Rehabbing? Please tell us some good news. Later
  7. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Whew. Because I was beginning to wonder whether the words "Madoff" and "Megdal" were programmed into unsearchable terms. They will ever be united, like Jonestown and Kool-Aid. Later
  8. Edgy MD wrote: My wife says I never use two words when I can use four. My wife and I met in college. A Professor wrote across the top of one of her papers, "Miss ____, you have a diarrhea of words and a constipation of ideas." And still remind her of that, but not as much as I could. Later
  9. If its the same game mentioned before, I remember the Victor Diaz game as the Craig Brazell game. He hit his only major league homer in the same game, and it was the game winner in extra innings. Later
  10. Interesting. Which pitcher has the team record for consecutive games with an RBI? What is that number of games? Later
  11. Is a suspended player considered like a player on the 60 day DL? Will someone have to be dropped from the 40 man (as well as the 25 man) roster once he is reinstated? Later
  12. And his knuckleball hops like a kangaroo? Later
  13. Saw the recap on the news. Harvey had a bloody nose? Didn't this happen in another game this year? Any comments by the broadcasters about what the cause might be? Later
  14. After a one game promotion to PSL, my kid is now at Binghamton. He started last night. He lost, but he pitched ok, giving up 3 runs in six innings. On the fast track? Later
  15. Wow! I had forgotten that. Thanks, Later
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Mets flight to the West made an unscheduled stop in Detroit after a medical emergency on board, reportedly involving an unnamed member of their media contingent. Just hears on WFAN that it was Howie Rose. Condition not reported, but he will not be accompanying the team to the West Coast. He will be returning to New York for tests. That's good news. He isn't being kept in Detroit for those tests. Get back soon, Howie. Later OE, missed the thread on this topic.
  17. Frank Thomas posted on the CPF? What was his screen name? Was it before I joined? Later
  18. Oh, that clears it up. Later
  19. Just got home from work. This is totally humiliating. According to Rubin (quoted on WFAN), the last time the Cubs swept a season series of at least seven games from an opponent was in 1885 against the Buffalo Bisons. Let me repeat that. the last time the Cubs swept a season series of at least seven games from an opponent was in 1885 against the Buffalo fucking Bisons. I'd say get the pitchforks and torches ready. But that would be too quick. Those bastards deserve to suffer as much as we have. End of rant. Later
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Anyone else get the idea that "limited commercial interruption" is code for "constant commercial interruption"? This post was brought to you by 1-800-cars-4kids. Later

    Coney

Mathieu and Kaupe standing next to each other reminds you that people of all sizes can play baseball. As noted above, Mathieu is 6'7" while Kaupe looks to be 5'3". Later
  23. Fmann must be proud. His adopted kid did it! Can someone Photoshop the old sweep guy to only have him wielding half a broom? I'm not sure if this counts as a doubleheader. Later
  24. In honor of draft week, maybe he wants to try out for the NBA and was showing off his slam dunk. Nice find. Later
