  1. The MFYs have no sense of humor about A-Rod. This would have been fun. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/rays-minor-league-team-cancels-a-rod-juice-box-promo-after-yankees-complain-203148500.html;_ylt=A0LEV1CS619VbRMA_jRXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzdml2bXR0BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDTUFQMDA2XzEEc2VjA3Ny Later
  2. After all those years of seeing Pirates teams that could really mash the ball, its unusual to see one with this kind of pitching. Also- I never realized that Neil Walker was a switch hitter. Nice job. I'm going to propose a CPF rule: Any time a player's baseball I.Q. is mentioned, it will be discussed relative to Daniel Murphy's. Is this significant enough to be split out for a vote? Later
  3. I don't care if Keith learned it from stone tablets, whatever he taught Duda has been working (knocking wood). And if it differs from the organization's philosophy, I'd rather he uses the tips that work. OE, IIRC Ralph Kiner said that in all his years of association with the team, not one player ever asked him for a hitting tip. Later
  4. Maybe he misspelled his name when he signed the contract. (j/k) From the story, it appears that he has repeatedly violated a team/contract rule put in there for him and not an MLB rule. Unless the contract is made public, we won't know what provisions have been violated. For all we know, it could have been something relatively benign, like a "Don't ride motorcycles" (Jeff Kent) or "Don't ski"(Lim Lonborg) type of clause. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Once Choate fucks up out of the pen, does the manager then go to Exeter? Expensive educational kudos for that one. LOL! Later
  6. Spent a lot of time In Columbia. The players can enjoy lunch at the Lizard's Thicket. MMYF still thinks its the best corn bread she ever ate. The place is famous. Any campaigning politician worth his salt has his picture taken in front of it. Later
  7. If no one else has mentioned how much we dislike guys names Kolten, then let me be the first Later
  8. Yup. Who knows. Time will tell. I wish him Buena suerte. Later
  9. Isn't there a spending cap on International FA signings? If so, why use some of it for this guy? His age and stats make it look like you're right, replacement for the minor league organization. Only. Was he really needed? EDIT: OTOH, the Braves just called up a 30 year old Cuban signee, so who knows? http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/update/25190032/braves-call-up-30-year-old-infof-adonis-garcia-for-mlb-debut?FTAG=YHF7e3228e Later
  10. He has been called up. Congrats! Later
  11. Centerfield wrote: It was nice to see Goedell and Robles shine in a high leverage situation. Maybe Terry will remember they are out there now. When the first came up, I thought they'd be as forgotten as Andrew Ridgeley*. But I think we'll be seeing more and more of them, especially since Black and Parnell haven't been good in their rehab appearances. Later * = Obligatory musical reference.
  12. At the end of Geico Sports night, the guy said "The Mets have called up Darrell Ceciliani from Las Vegas". Roll to credits. Nothing about who was sent down. Later
  13. G-Fafif wrote: Kay Bee made a Vince Coleman baseball card? Makes sense. Children found him such a comforting presence when they met him in stadium parking lots. C'mon. You saw Vince play. He didn't want to throw that M-80 at those kids. He missed the cutoff man. Later
  14. Thanks for the small pics of Joe Torre. I might be able to keep my breakfast down. Later
  15. I didn't remember G. Williams as a Met. Later
  16. Zvon wrote: Approaching 100 pitches. I guess we won't get 7 out of him. 11-1 I wonder how many relievers Terry is going to use. Later
  17. I'm getting the same feeling as the person who realizes that the engines have flamed out on his jet plane. Yes, he's still in the air, but he's anxiously looking around for a parachute. Later
  18. Who did he think he was, John Stearns? Later
  19. You might have found insurance that costs less than Progressive, but you'll lose the paternity suit. Later
  20. He went 3-5 tonight, including a double and 4 RBI. The avg. is up to .187. Later
  21. I'm not surprised that Dave Hillman is still alive. He didn't throw hard enough to exert himself. Later
  22. I'd like to see Recker catch him, to guide him through any rookie jitters he might have. Later
  23. MGIM, you are a bad ass yourself. Good one. Later
  24. I get the Metly connection, the VERY Metly connection, but I don't think Ralph Kiner ever wore a Mets uniform. I remember when the Mets got Jose Cardenal. I was on vaycay, heard it on the radio. I was angry. How could the Mets still be getting those old ballplayers. Why not some younger ones? When I got home, I looked him up and found he was younger than I was. Later
  25. At least the game didn't hinge on an awful call by Angel Hernandez. (Why is that incompetent fool still umpiring in the majors?) Later
