  1. Not only has it not gone unsaid, but you just said it twice. And in other threads as well. Later
  2. My kid finished the season early because of the PED suspension. But from his numbers, I'm confident he'll be fighting for a spot on the 25 man roster next Spring. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=puello001ces Later
  3. Coming back from surgery and he had a pretty good year that will probably put him back on the top prospect lists. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=matz--001ste Later
  4. About Brandon: http://www.highheelsonthefield.net/my_weblog/2013/09/mets-top-prospect-brandon-nimmo-reflects-on-first-full-season-of-pro-ball.html Later
  5. Not looking too good, kid. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=villas001edi Come on home. Maybe some of MMYF's chicken soup will be good for ya'. Later
  6. Belated welcome to the bigs, Wilmer. I knew you could do it. Hope you stay for more than a while. Later
  7. Nice debut, Juan. Now, out of the house. You're getting meal money now, and it will make room for me to adopt another kid. Later
  8. He pitched a scoreless inning for St Lucie today. Later

    Argo (2012)

Yeah, I was really impressed by the horse's speed in Toy Story. What is the takeoff speed of a 747? I'd really like to be that guy who readily quotes the exact speed to all the other viewers during that scene. http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/performance/q0088.shtml Later
  10. He finished his first year in the organization last night. The GCL team didn't make the playoffs. Still a kid, he's got to cut down on his strikeouts to move up. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=RF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=610141 Later
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Any home runs? I think he has 2 for the season. Later
  12. Last night, pitching AT Las Vegas: 7 IP, 8 K, 0 BB, 0 ER, 4 H. Reportedly throwing 95-96. Later
  13. MMYF said the hero's mentor was a Corsair. That was a Navy fighter plane that had approximately the same performance as the P-38 Lightning. She gives it that score. Later
  14. MMYF taking the grandson to see it today. I'll post her comments. Later
  15. Rafael had some early difficulty adjusting to pitching in the PCL. But his numbers for his last three starts in AAA (including 7 IP, 2 H last night at Las Vegas) 21 IP 12H 3ER 5BB 20K Later
  16. Had been neglecting this kid for a while. He's still in rookie ball and hasn't gotten much better. But he's still young. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=villas001edi Later
  17. Vic Sage wrote: It's got humor and romance intertwined with the rising body count, not to mention some well-staged action sequences. I can see why this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but "deplorable"? It's better than average for what it is. Vic, you're just goo-ey. Goo-ey. Yes, I enjoyed the heck out of the first one, and can't wait to see the sequel. I saw Hopkins interviewed before this came out, and he said he was proud that "he did his own stunts". I'm sure that was either tongue-in-cheek or there aren't too many tough things for him to do. Later
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: What do you suppose is the issue with this guy? I thought the issue might have been that he is short. Short first basemen (and right handed starting pitchers) have traditionally been looked down upon. But Allan is 6'5". So the issue is still a mystery. I'd like to see him get a chance at the majors. Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: I just adopted David Cone. HIGH FIVES FOR ME! The difference is I didn't adopt Centeno ex-post-facto. I predicted he would make the majors, probably as a backup, and I was right. Later
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He probably left because you've been ignoring him for seven months. No, I toss all of my adoptees out of the house once they make the majors. Their meal money can buy them better meals than I can provide. Later
  21. And, because John Buck went on Paternity league, my kid just got called up. Welcome to the bigs, kid, and get outta' my house. Later
  22. Thanks, FK. That gave me a case of Sickels Kvell Euphoria. Later
  23. My wife took my 2 year old grandson to see it - his first in-theater movie. He loved it and didn't squirm. My wife thought it was cute. I'll ask her how she rated it and update the poll. Later
  24. Edgy MD wrote: What kind of nonsense play was that? Is there a no-sliding rule for the All-Star Game? I dunno. Maybe there is. They don't want another Ray Fosse injury. Or, more likely, the batter didn't believe my kid had a great arm and thought he could score standing up. Then when he saw the ball was there, it was too late to slide, so he tried to knock the ball out of the catcher's mitt. Later
