  1. I remember when he was placed on waivers by SF. The waiver price at the time was $100. A bunch of people in the Bay Area were amazed that a person was only worth $100 and started a "make this world a better place for John Pregenzer to pitch in" fan club. IIRC the club had hundreds of members. Later
  2. My kid is now ranked the #8 prospect in the organization by Amazin' Avenue: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2024/1/25/24049983/mets-top-25-prospects-for-2024-rhp-mike-vasil-8 Later
  3. Pujols went 42-118 at 30 , 37-99 at 31, and even 40- 95 at 35. David Ortiz went 54-137 at 30 and at the age of 40 had 48 doubles to go along with 38-127 .315. And (eyeballing it) he averaged about 30 -100 in the years in between, not counting the COVID year. Yes, Cabrera's production dropped off more, although his age 30,31 and 33 years weren't too bad. But you could attribute it to his late in life weight gain (BR lists him at 267 pounds) But I think Pete's trajectory would follow Albert and David. Just my opinion, based on Mets fandom. Later
  4. If I look at my watch during a movie, it is too long. While I liked it, I looked at my watch several times during the Revenant. I never looked at my watch during Oppenheimer. Later
  5. He's 29 years old. They're paying him for his bat speed, not his foot speed. Length of contract in the 7-8 year range shouldn't be an issue. I thought of Pujols and Miggy and David Ortiz before reading those articles and anticipate a similar career path for Pete. (position -> DH) Sign him. Later
  6. One of the presents I got yesterday was his autographed baseball card. C'mon kid, make it. Big! Later
  7. It was on HBO last night. I watched the first 15 or so minutes and turned it off. My wife made it to 20 minutes, and our kids had Barbie Dolls. Maybe I'll try it again, but come in about mid way so I don't have to watch the first 15 minutes again. They were trying to show that all women are equal no matter what they choose to do, but it was annoying. Later
  8. His line so far:8 G (0 GS), 7.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER (0.00 ERA), 4 BB, 7 K There are 3 or 4 holds here, but he hasn't been given a save opportunity. Later
  9. Trey is a right handed pitcher who is now in the Arizona Fall League after spliting the year between Brooklyn and Binghamton. His stats are here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mcloug000tre Why am I adopting him? Because my daughter works with Trey's mom, that's why! And I wouldn't want to incur the wrath of my daughter if she ever found out I didn't adopt him. So, Let's go, Trey. I'm rootin' for ya'. Later
  10. He has been promoted to AA Binghamton. His third level this year. He already has 100 BB (combined) for the season. Williams has three hits in his first nine at-bats in Double-A, and is slashing .267/.431/.461 with 13 homers, 22 doubles, eight triples, and 44 steals in 117 games across three levels this season. Later
  11. If I look at my watch during the movie, it may be too long. But I never did that during this one. An overlong movie can kill the enjoyment, but I never felt that way in this one. But "too long" is different for everybody. No need to duck. It's your opinion. Later
  12. He's back from the IL (a year since he last started) He started for St Lucie tonight, pitched one inning and struck out the side (with no walks). Welcome back, kid. Late
  13. My 12 year old grandson saw it with his mom, and I haven't asked her yet how he took to the sex scenes. But she had said he liked the movie for the science, and I can see how he would. I saw it in a regular theater, no I MAX. And I think the sound was perfect. And the way it was used makes me think it should be up for an Oscar in sound editing. The script was tight, telling the complete story the author felt had to be told. I'm the five bomb rater. Later
  14. I never knew about different size baseballs, either. As for Vasil, his record since being promoted to Syracuse is 3-3 5.28, 58 IP, 58 H, 10 HR, 30 BB, 59 K. Several Mets blogs are saying he may join the rotation in early 2024. He needs more time. I hope they don't rush him. Later
  15. Named pitcher of the week in the Metsmerized weekly report. https://metsmerizedonline.com/mets-minors-weekly-report-vasil-almost-makes-history/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=mets-minors-weekly-report-vasil-almost-makes-history Later
  16. 8 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 7 K in his last start. It dropped his ERA below 6.(5.59) Something to build on. Later
  17. Mike has an ERA over 6 since his promotion. Later
  18. Edgy, Julio Zayas wasn't in the starting lineup today and my heart skipped a beat. Was he injured? Was he thrown into a trade? But he later pinch hit. (sigh of relief) Later
  19. Your kid's stayin' hot (from Metsmerized online)" Later
  20. Does a white sport coat and a pink carnation count as Barbie-ish? Later
  21. I adopted Vasil. I'll race you to the majors. Later
  22. He's getting some NY press.; https://nypost.com/2023/07/09/mets-late-draft-pick-mike-vasil-looks-to-prove-critics-wrong/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=nypost_sports&fbclid=IwAR2k2rS9a9gsnhnUcRXlg0d_3JxXNsEWaQ-wI7DKUnhm9B35dYkM4cOwyug Later
  23. Mike pitched 1/3 of an inning in the Futures Game, with 1 BB and 1 K. Later
  24. My kid has been named to the Futures Game NL squad, the only Mets representative. Later
  25. You beat me to him, you sly devil. I was going to adopt him after the All-star Game. Good move. Oh, he's also played third base. If he can hit, they'll find a fit. Later
