  1. I still remember last year's thread title "gagnon me with a spoon" and it still fits. Later
  2. Hmmmm, no Baseball Digest covers? Later
  3. Any Commie Pinko bed-wetter who votes against Casey Stengel is obviously an agent of Russia and should be sentenced to having to get all his (or her) baseball coverage from ESPN forever. * Later * = strongly worded post to follow
  4. =Fman99 post_id=3867 time=1551837383 user_id=86] Can he be as good without being the man? Time will tell. I am glad he's back. I think he thrives.
  5. As long as he tells his pitchers to stay off a trampoline, I'll be happy with the rest of his coaching. Later
  6. His fits of wildness inspired my rap song parody: re-enjoy. Later _______________________________________________________________________ Al Leiter is always close to the lead in number of pitches per batter. Looks like he's lost confidence in his stuff. So, Al lets batters "Walk This Way": If you're a Leiter lover Better stay under/cover Don't admit you feel ‘dat way. Don't tell me nutin' About your ballot/ stuffin' He ain't no all star any way You want to be Al's cheer/ leader He ain't never been a crowd/pleaser As far as I can remi/nisce But the best thing, lover Is that wild-high motha' Throws balls that always miss, like this Batters weren't/swingin And dat ain't fans/ singin As the ump's left hand fly up in the/ air Hey diddle diddle just toss it down the middle So they might swing at it, take a /dare So take a /chance This ain't no high school/dance Maybe someone can make a/play Hitters you ain't been/foolin Cause they know what he/doin when Al lets them walk this way Chorus: Al lets them Walk this way! Get him outta' Shea! (repeat 2X) (repeat all 2X) Well just let me smack you head! Oooh, a-like this! He tries hitters /teasin' Ain't no fuckin' reason He can't throw a pitch at the knees Or throw three strikes over To the other club's socker Or let his teammates play some/ D He's a consistent/loser Throws like a Tampax/ user Never throws up something they'll miss He just tries to nibble Not like that ol' Rob Dibble And give the fans some wanted bliss, like this Batters weren't/swingin And dat ain't fans/ singin As the ump's left hand fly up in the air Hey diddle diddle just toss it down the middle So they might swing at it, take a /dare So take a /chance This ain't no high school/dance Maybe someone can make a/play Hitters you ain't been/foolin Cause they know what they/doin when Al lets them walk this way Chorus
  7. Well Dowdy Doody. boys and girls. I think Princess Summerfallwinterspring would have had a better chance of making the majors this year, but ya' never know. Nothing I would want to keep in the major league roster all years. Cash in this chip ( getting back half the Rule V cost) and move on. Later
  8. Drop the mic. You win. Later
  9. And when this contract expires, Bobby Bonilla will still have 4 years to go on his. If I'm still around then, I'll be grousing about that.(although it will be player's pocket change by then) "Kiddies, I remember when .... " Later
  10. As Joe Schultz used to say, "Sh*tfu*k" Later
  11. (channeling Fmann) He would have been better off just choking his chicken. Later
  12. He never replace Roger Craig as a notable "Rog" in Mets lore. In fact, he won't be the most notable Rajai because he'll be gone before the season starts. Later
  13. TJ Rivera will be brought up in September to replace the still, yet, and forever ailing Todd Frazier and he will Hurricane Hazel it to the tune of .410 - 7 - 28 and help the team clinch the pennant, playoffs and World Series. I case you've forgotten, my Bronx homie can stroke. Later
  14. 16-6, 2.04 and more than a few gut wrenching no decisions. Later
  15. Those comments sound good to me. Pitching in spots to spots all year at the major league level. Later
  16. And to all those MFY fans who were saying they didn't care to bid high on Machado because they knew they were going to sign Arenado*. Sign THIS! Later * = its part of the MFY entitlement program.
  17. I was not thinking of it in terms of game time, I was thinking of it in terms of the resultant impact on roster makeup and strategy. Later
  18. A rule to decrease the number of pitchers/ pitching changes per game would also be an argument for the DH, wouldn't it? You could keep them in games longer because you wouldn't have to pinch hit for, then replace, them. Later
  19. Curious that there have no leaks about the causes of those clouds. I could live with him bringing a championship or two if those clouds don't involve women, children or small animals. Later
  20. I've seen the actual live Aid footage. But that doesn't mean I didn't like the movie. And I guess I wasn't the only one. Later
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: I also predict that I'm not going to watch. Not much of it anyway. Because there will be no host, so no opening host monologue this year, the show will open (according to some sources but not confirmed) with a musical number in which Queen, with Adam Lambert singing lead, will perform. I'll probably turn it off after that. Later
  22. Vic Sage wrote: For example, many point to PSYCHO as the first (or at least most influential) slasher/horror film. I disagree. Until that point, Hitchcock was the "master of suspense," not horror, and he reached his apotheosis with PSYCHO. But for Hitch's horror film, you have to look to THE BIRDS, which offers a terrifying vision of a small town enduring a protracted and organized attack by birds for no reason, implying some unnatural situation in which birds can think and coordinate and seek vengeance for a crime only they are aware of. If all it takes to be a horror film is an attempt to induce fear or dread, then just about every film Hitch ever made was a horror film, and he should be rechristened "the master of horror" rather than suspense. Well done. Later
  23. It was entertaining, and the concert scenes were excellent. I didn't miss what others have said was missing, nor note all the cliches, because I don't remember seeing any other rock bio-pics. Later
  24. Frayed Knot wrote: Saw just the clip of the Alonso HR, but that alone was pretty damn impressive. A first-pitch liner over a billboard in LCF off a slider which was slightly low and outside. In the post game interview, Callaway said they knew Pete® can hit the fastball, but this showed good pitch recognition on a breaking ball not down the middle and early in the count. Sounded like he was impressed. Later
  25. Lefty Specialist wrote: Toussaint said that Alonso shot was the hardest anyone's ever hit a ball off him. The legend begins. Later
