  1. Outfielder Jordan Luplow (Cleveland Indians) is the great-nephew of one-time Mets outfielder Al Luplow. Later
  2. Edgy MD wrote: He's like that college with the small urban campus. He has a tight quad. I promise to tip my server, try the veal, and drive home safely. Will you be here all week? Nice. Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Rookie Ron Swoboda hit 15 first-half homers in 1965. Thanks. Later
  4. Some bad reporting. The Yahoo Sports article is titled: "Pete Alonso sets Mets' first-half rookie homer record in win over Nationals". But nowhere in the article does it say who held the previous record. Was this mentioned on the broadcast? If so, who did he beat? Later
  5. Not a good picture of Casey, but the cover is only about him. And it was the first opener. Later

  7. Ruben Tejada, recently promoted from Brooklyn, is playing for Binghamton. Let's all root for him to make it back. Later
  8. Then Brodie isn't asking the right question. He should have asked for the people, in Wright's opinion, who would help build a winner. Why place a limit on that search? Age should not be a limiting factor. That is discriminatory and arbitrary and is like putting an upper age limit on Presidential candidates. Later
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Al Leiter for pitching coach. I'd prefer one with at least some familiarity with the stroke zone. Somewhere on my bullpen coaching staff I'd find a place for Al Jackson. He has been an every-era Met, and I think he was a minor league pitching instructor/ coach when David was in the minors. To me, that's close enough. He would tell them how a pitcher could throw more than 100 pitches. I like many of Lunchie's list. Not sure who my bench coach would be - maybe Edgardo could perform double duty. Later
  10. Lefty Specialist wrote: So I'm wondering if Cespedes stepped in the hole on the 16th green or the 18th green? Because it'd be a shame if he didn't finish the round. BOC Later
  11. 1) I think Drew Gagnon has earned a start to see if he will replace Font in the rotation. Remembering Edgy's clever thread title, Drew no longer gags us with a spoon. 2) Not exactly the offensive onslaught that proves the recent team slump has been reversed. But we'll take it. Now keep it up, guys. Later
  12. Oh, here we go again. Haven't seen one like this since the old board. Sigh. Back to Cespedes - I think someone (The Mets, the insurance company) will sue him for violation of some conduct clause in his contract and try to get out of it. As others have posted, I think we've seen the last of him in a Mets uniform. When he was good, he was good. Too bad we didn't see it for enough time. Later

  14. Lefty Specialist wrote: Hope that LTD trunk has room for the bound and gagged BVW as well. Plenty of room in the trunk. But don't forget BVW was an agent, so we may need more tape for his mouth. Later
  15. IIRC, Mets managers over they years had some doozies with Lee Weyer (my friend called him "the bully") but I can't think of any specific one. Later

  19. "I'm sorry Mr. Calloway, your not on the charter passenger list. There's a a few men in that black Explorer that want to speak with you." "And don't worry that all the seats are taken. You'll be in the trunk of the Ford Ltd over there. A few questions first. What is your shoe size? and Are you allergic to cement?" Later
  20. =G-Fafif post_id=10439 time=1558297099 user_id=55] Noted on telecast: first consecutive shutouts of Mets on two or fewer hits in 52 years.
  21. I hope that new manager brings a new batting coach with him. (or a few hitters) (or both) Later
  22. If they only let players who deserved their paycheck this weekend onto the bus after the game, there should be a lot of empty seats. Later
  23. The rest of his season will play out in the bullpen in mop-up roles. Later
