  2. Edgy MD wrote: If you look closely as Johnny Bench shakes Koosman's hand, you can see Bench's lips saying, "Yeah, but I'm still going to be Rookie of the Year," and Koosman turning away to Bench's teammate Tony Perez, and tossing off, "Yeah, well, it's not like you'll deserve it." Chilling. Do they cultivate pompous arseholes in Cincinnati? Later

I hope his toughness on the diamond extends to his health. We wish him well. Later

Edgy MD wrote: So, this is deGrom's to lose now, right? Yep. Until the day Pete Alonso writes his name in the record books. Later This comment is quite a bit more prescient than was probably originally intended. No. It was intentional. I don't FotF around. Later
  6. Were they giving away box seats behind first in 1990? Or did Sax still have those throwing problems by then? Later
  7. He was 1-3 with 2 RBI last night when I checked mid-game. Now the box score isn't there on the minor league baseball site, just the 9-8 final score. Frustrating. Later OE: the box score magically reappeared. He finished 1-3 with a walk.
  8. It ended as a no-hitter. Later
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Years later and Cesar Puello still lookin' artificially jacked. My one-time adoptee. Sigh. We found out too late that he was running around with the wrong crowd. Later
  10. My kid got three hits the other night and is batting .333 with 3 HR and 14 RBI in 11 games. So, he sat last night (didn't even, gasp, DH). It must be an organizational thing to sit a player who is on a hot streak. Later
  11. I think it depends on the health status of Jed Lowrie (who?). If he was healthy, Frazier would be my #1 candidate. But nobody knows, so I picked Wheeler as the first to go. I just hope we don't get back a bunch of Jacob Rhame- type middle relievers. The biggest need is a right handed hitting center fielder who can both hit and field. Later
  12. I laughed at ... and "shitfuck". I still use "Joe Schultz" when I want to use that word. Later
  13. I liked him because he was flipping a gigantic middle finger at the staid pomposity of the MFYs. I also liked his description of his time with the Seattle Pilots. RIP, Jim. Later
  14. Mickey says he has learned from last year's mistakes, and shows he hasn't. Later
  15. Pete Rose isn't intense. He's just an asshole. Later
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Oh, I wrote a spritely review of the recent play of St. Lucie. I submitted it, went to eat my din-din and now it's GONE! GONE! Looks like it is at the end of the "Two 4th of July Questions" thread. Later
  17. He was one of the kinds of player I wanted the Mets to try to get in the first few years. At least he was young, and I thought showed potential Then, they got him, and, ... oh well. Next guy. RIP Later
  18. I rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the 1962 Mets. I never give up. Not my style. But, man, these guys are making it tough. Later
  19. Yes, the bridge. Have a good time. Later
  20. When I heard there was a 6.something earthquake "near Los Angeles" today I got all excited. Then, I found out it didn't strike the stadium in Chavez Ravine. I'm still rooting for the San Andreas Fault. Later
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Hey, you go. Don't get me wrong, great song. But I laid an egg when I posted "Beginnings," causing Frayed Knot to go off an unexpected Peter Cetera rant, and now he steps in to post a video of a song featuring Peter F. Cetera! That's just got to trigger bad karma all around. LOL! BTW, my next was going to be "Stayin' Alive". Later
  22. Has been promoted to Kingsport (Advanced Rookie) after hitting .350 in the GCL. Went 0-4 in his debut last night. Later
  23. My daughter is getting tickets for the family to see Binghamton play at Hartford in August. Later
  24. Edgy MD wrote: No more IGTs invoking Chicago songs. I was trying to track the titles to my recovery from the heart attack to the Mets recovery from shitty play and it was a logical incremental step choice. Someone else gets IGT duty now. Later
