  2. After I answered the "stay or Go?" question, I realized that there hasn't been a 2022 grading thread yet. So, since Ben did the heavy lifting in his thread, I'll use his list. What grades would you give to each of the Mets for his year? 4. Does mutual option mean both the player and the team have to agree on a player becoming a free agent, or is it either/or? Laterr
  5. Edgy MD wrote: And I, Seattle. They are a good story and usually I would, too. But a fan of Seattle is one of the most virulent and vicious anti-Mets fans I've ever met. I wouldn't want to give that person a second reason to smile. Later
  6. I need another day still. I was getting excited about at least a week or so of playoff energy, and all the wind came out of the sails over the last two week so fast that I'm still reeling a little. Me, too. I think it was Mike Tyson who said, "Plans are good - until you get punched". And I think this gut punch knocked the air out of me. Not fun. Later
  7. However, if you take Jose Ramirez away from the Indians/Guardians, would they win the AL Central? I severely doubt it...so how is he not being mentioned as the clear favorite in the AL MVP? Two other views of that tend to agree with you. The Canadian Football League calls their award the "Most Important Player". In baseball, the Sporting News (when it really was the "Bible of Baseball") used to award a "Player of he Year" for the player with the most dominant year (this year maybe Judge or Ohtani) to distinguish it from a "Most Valuable" player.(In your scenario Ramirez) Later
  8. Fmann already started an IGT. Part of his now famous "unfuck your postseason" series. Later
  9. I think that is the next thing that Manfred needs to fix to add more offense to the game...move the foul poles about 5 more feet out to their left and right...too many "almost" homeruns... LOL! I still remember Murph telling us how Cliff Cook almost (in an anguished tone) hit a home run against the Pirates at Forbes Field. Later
  10. =Ceetar post_id=110293 time=1665183444 user_id=102] I wonder if that possibility has Buck pull Scherzer earlier tonight than he would otherwise, particularly with a few run lead..
  11. And 6-3 Pfillies is your pfinal. Later
  12. I liked Red Barber from his days announcing Brooklyn games, and still liked him when he carried over his easy going style to the MFY booth. Later
  13. Now 4-2, and the inning is still going. 2 on, 1 out. Later
  14. The "Best Fans in Baseball" (just ask them) must be happy. Later
  15. Steve Garvey was one of the first people (not only baseball players) I read about who was an avocado farmer. And the SD unis had the same color brown as the dirt they grow in. Fuck San Diego and the avocado farmers. They are depriving southern California of needed water reserves so they can grow their crops. Later

  17. You could have made a case for three players as Mets minor league player of the year. (Baty, Vientos, Alvarez) In many prior years, it was a stretch to name any past one good one. That's progress. Later
  18. "Two outs? Two strikes? No Problem". I like that slogan. Very New York. Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/2022BattingLeaders.jpg> Let's give credit where credit is due. Jeff had the top BA in the MAJORS this year. (The AL leader hit about .315 - and it wasn't Aaron Judge) Later
  20. I remember a picture (baseball card?) of Steve Garvey, wearing that brown lettered Padre Uniform, with a smirk on his face. It pissed me off. It still does. LGM! Later
  21. =Centerfield post_id=110120 time=1665011189 user_id=65] James McCann and the Marlins. Assholes.
  22. I can't see the game(s). I know from this thread that it is cold, but how hard is it raining? Will they be able to play the second game? I just heard Buck say that if tomorrow's game is crucial, Jake will start. Later
