  2. Jeff McNeil trails Freddie F'n Freeman by .001 in the race for the National League batting title. (.337 to .336) Let's go Squirrel. Later
  3. I think I prefer Denny's instead of NHOP for the kinds of pancakes we got. Later
  4. Let's kick some A's. Later
  5. Hector Lopez, infielder uncomfortable with defense, 93. After the MFYs unsuccessfully tried to play him in the outfield, sportswriter Dick Young called him "Hector, what a pair of hands, Lopez". But everything I've read about him said he was a good guy. RIP. Later
  6. And my homie from Washington Heights. Happy Birthday, kid. Later
  7. As Monte Irvin said when he reflected on Giant personnel maneuvers of the early 1950s four decades later, “What the hell do you care how old he is as long as he can play?” We hope Francisco can. Nice quote. Later
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: ... I can't help but wonder how and if the Mets might dispose of McCann over the winter. Put him in a position for which he is qualified - door stop, paperweight, and space heater come to mind. Later
  9. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=109199 time=1664560753 user_id=68] Read this piece of horseshit: (Even money the writer was too young to even see Carter play with the Mets).
  10. This says a lot about his background and his dedication. https://www.mlb.com/news/featured/mets-prospect-francisco-alvarez-loaded-with-talent?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage&partnerId=zh-20220930-716539-mlb-1-A&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20220930-716539-mlb-1-A&bt_ee=0ygXhS3u8qAksCX0%2FpFwZlA%2BWesq2zB7h2fW2eNdKuLB8%2BO2PbZ9oxu%2FI6aqlvE8&bt_ts=1664542392524https://www.mlb.com/news/featured/mets-prospect-francisco-alvarez-loaded-with-talent?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage&partnerId=zh-20220930-716539-mlb-1-A&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20220930-716539-mlb-1-A&bt_ee=0ygXhS3u8qAksCX0%2FpFwZlA%2BWesq2zB7h2fW2eNdKuLB8%2BO2PbZ9oxu%2FI6aqlvE8&bt_ts=1664542392524 Later
  11. With no announcement whether yesterday's rainout will be made up, Francisco went 2-3 in today's final regular season game. He finished the season with a .234/.382/.443 line at AAA - 158AB, 31R, 37H, 6-0-9, 31 RBI in 45G and .277/.368/.553 at AA - 253AB, 43R,70H, 16-0-18, 47RBI in 76 G. Combined stats: .260/.374/.511 22-0-27 78RBI. Not bad for a 20 year old in 112 games. Later
  12. Edgy MD wrote: That article implies that the Giants expected the Mets to ask after Wilmer instead of Ruf. There were several stories on that possibility around the time of the trading deadline. (IIRC SNY) Later
  13. I'm guessing Vientos because he can play both corners of the infield as well as the outfield. (How well he plays them is up for debate) Vogelbach is more limited, so there would be more chances for Vientos. Later
  14. Willets Point wrote: The Mets were 8-2 in the ten games before last night. The idea that they've "sucked" is completely irrational. We've moved past rational into uneasy heading toward hysterical. The fan life cycle. Perfectly typical. Later
  15. List of Mets players with multiple 40 home run seasons: Pete Alonso (2019, 2022) Later
  16. =Fman99 post_id=108812 time=1664324727 user_id=86] I hope someone buys a home run apple full of ice cream and dumps it on the SMILE lady's head. And then sets her on fire and poops on her ashes.
  17. =Fman99 post_id=108784 time=1664315816 user_id=86] They should run some volts through Lindsey Nelson and prop his old weird ass up in the booth. Like they used to do with Dick Clark every year on December 31st.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I imagine the Nats don't have a sold-out crowd hungry for action. They could move that series to Fukuoka and there wouldn't be a whole lot of fan complaint. Fukuoka them and their fans. Later
  19. Don Shula would have been happy about a wet field. Later
  20. Thank you. And to all who are celebrating today, a Happy and Healthy New Year. Later
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: =bmfc1 post_id=108582 time=1664122290 user_id=73]. Let's put Sears out of business! Or at least batter him around so much that he loses his senses then does something stupid like merge with K-Mart
  22. I was working and didn't see the game. Someone (elsewhere) commented that Hernandez wasn't giving Jake the low strike and it seemed to throw him off. Is that true? Later
  23. This is not happening like we drew it up. Later
  24. Francisco Álvarez since returning from an ankle injury for Triple-A Syracuse: - 8 G, 34 PA, .387/.441/.742, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 5 XBH, 3 BB, 8 K He didn't play last night. I hope he finishes out the season strong and plays every game until the season ends on Thursday. Later
  25. The players of the historic Chatham Coloured All-Stars baseball team have been digitally reborn in a top-selling video game series that has the blessing of Major League Baseball. Through a partnership between the league, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society and game designers with San Diego Studios, the members of the 1934 Chatham club – the first team of Black baseball players to win an Ontario Baseball Association championship – were painstakingly digitized and embedded in MLB: The Show as a playable team. https://www.chathamdailynews.ca/news/local-news/chatham-coloured-all-stars-introduced-to-new-generation-via-video-game-mlb-the-showhttps://www.chathamdailynews.ca/news/local-news/chatham-coloured-all-stars-introduced-to-new-generation-via-video-game-mlb-the-show Asking the strat and other game players here, are there any complete Negro League teams in the current baseball games? In an historical version? Later
