(the only thing the owners seem concerned with) Eliminate the DH? (A problem NL fans are concerned with) Get rid of Angel Hernandez? (A problem all baseball fans are concerned with) Stay tuned to see what other problems expansion fees might solve. (S/M = 94) Later
  2. Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Levi Walker Jr, the only Native American to have portrayed controversial Atlanta Braves mascot "Chief Noc-A-Homa," died at 80, his family announced. Later
  3. OK. But with all the new hires(and titles), who has the actual authority to pull the trigger on transactions? Later
  4. I'm getting a little antsy. My military analogy is someone who spends all his time cleaning his rifle and never shoots it. The Mets are building what I hope is a strong organization, but while they have been doing that, other teams have been making moves. And with all the titles, I'm not sure who has the responsibility to pull the trigger. They need pitching, and I hope they don't depend on building the staff with at least one Japanese pitcher while some "known" players go elsewhere. Taking the half empty view. Later
  5. The first Mets exec with an "M." as his first name was M. Donald Grant. A tradition? Later
  6. Ron batted left handed, but the only picture of him I've seen in the obits is the one that shows him batting right handed (at Shea). Didn't anyone care? Have we ever discussed this (the re-printing of reverse images) before? What other examples have been found? Later

  8. And it won't get him many smiles from friends of Reuben Tejada. Later
  9. He passed away today. https://apnews.com/article/ron-hodges-dies-obituary-mets-fbf289ed74be7079624f16ac20f63451https://apnews.com/article/ron-hodges-dies-obituary-mets-fbf289ed74be7079624f16ac20f63451 When I think "reserve catcher" I think of him. Later
  10. Ron Hodges has passed away - 74. https://apnews.com/article/ron-hodges-dies-obituary-mets-fbf289ed74be7079624f16ac20f63451https://apnews.com/article/ron-hodges-dies-obituary-mets-fbf289ed74be7079624f16ac20f63451 Later

  12. He's he guy I wanted in the last few Managerial hirings. He's finally coming home. Love it! Later
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The exploding name on the back of the jersey seems to be the latest innovation in uniform technology. And long overdue, I might add! Thee have been several Cardinal uniforms I wish had exploded, with the players in them. Later
  14. Classy. He thanked the "little guys". Later
  15. Rumor (SNY?) has Brad Ausmus taking the bench coach job in da' Bronx. Later
  16. Years ago, I wouldn't have felt comfortable hiring people with only AL coaching experience because of the difference in strategy when only the AL had the DH. But now that both leagues play with the same rules, I not so concerned about differences with in-game decisions. As for Nevin, I'm sure Al Leiter has memories of him. He wore out Al "pretty good". Later
  17. I saw on Facebook that Lindor has bought McNeil a new Ford Bronco for winning the 2022 batting title. I'm not sure how old the story is. It is from Metsmerized.com. Later
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Please don't allow me to give the inference that A-Rod's testimony is the sum total of the evidence against Ramirez. Of course it isn't. But it gave me a chance to note my support for Manny as well as take a shot at A-Rod. As Voltaire wrote, "The best of all possible worlds". Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Manny Ramirez, ratted out by A-Rod, and dragged off to the Hall of Ignominy with him. Not only is Manny a Homie, but my good friend (who passed away a few years ago) used to umpire Manny's games at George Washington High School in Washington Heights. I don't care what that arsehole said, Manny would get my sentimental vote. AssRod should have to drink his own bile. Later
  20. From SNY: Free agent relief pitcher Reynaldo Lopez, a potential target for the Mets this offseason, has agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Braves. Over the last three seasons, Lopez posted a 3.14 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 201 strikeouts in 189 innings over 149 appearances (including 10 starts) for the Chicago White Sox. Later
  21. He'd pitch well, then trip over the foul line and pull something and go on the IL. Not dependable. Pass. Later
  22. OE: Met Irish beat me by a nanosecond. The negotiating period lasts 45 days. Later
  23. I like Farm Aid! Ben's "Up to three" kicked in. That was the only one of this bunch that I felt as worth a vote. Later
  24. Tom Edens? Later
  25. It was full of conjecture. He never gave us a real answer to his own question. It was mostly a defense of Buck. Typical Klaptrap. Later
