That was the worst day for France since Napoleon invaded Russia. I'm surprised Dusty didn't have anyone warming up. Later

My fans of the series award goes to the couple that had a sign that said, "I had a better sign, but the Astros stole it". Later

They used to say the best umpires are the ones you don't notice. You couldn't say that about Joe West. The clubs Davey managed had a higher winning percentage (.562 ) than Cito's (.516). And his teams had a plus winning percentage in all five cities in which he managed. Even if he hadn't been a Mets Manager, I would vote for him over Cito. Later

Both fill voids in the very thin list of organization outfield prospects. Some write-ups say Gilbert plays good enough centerfield to move Nimmo to a corner. Clifford will need time to lower his strikeout rate and allow that power stroke to really shine. Later

I wanted her as GM the last time she was available when she left LA. She's put together two teams that made the playoffs, LA and the Fish. It wouldn't hurt to ask if she would take a job here and she could pick her own title. Later

=Cowtipper post_id=139469 time=1697398150 user_id=166] Thomas Szapucki, who pitched briefly for the Mets in 2021 and 2022, was in the Giants system in 2023, but was hurt all year and didn't play.

SI rerunning the story that Joe Buck has announced he is retiring from broadcasting major league baseball. He got so many comments when he announced it, he had to explain it again. And SI printed them. https://www.si.com/mlb/2023/10/12/joe-buck-says-he-wont-call-baseball-for-espnhttps://www.si.com/mlb/2023/10/12/joe-buck-says-he-wont-call-baseball-for-espn That announcement has been met with unanimous applause on Facebook. The fact that he should have started in the first place is the subject for another discussion. Later

Luisangel strikes me as a Dykstra and Backman type cocky player with a 'tude. He knows he's good and will bust his butt to prove it when he's on the field. That's the kind of thing we loved in them, but hopefully without the asholeness of Lennie. Later

Trey is a right handed pitcher who is now in the Arizona Fall League after spliting the year between Brooklyn and Binghamton. His stats are here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mcloug000tre Why am I adopting him? Because my daughter works with Trey's mom, that's why! And I wouldn't want to incur the wrath of my daughter if she ever found out I didn't adopt him. So, Let's go, Trey. I'm rootin' for ya'. Later
