  1. Anything coulda happened if Stanton was safe
  2. Hey everyone I am at this game
  3. That was a pretty funny article that made the Mets case pretty perceptively. Great line about Cohen and hedge funds.
  4. Actually AI doesn't seem able to make witty headlines. I copied Jon Herman's Post column into chatGPT and asked it to write a 2 word headline. Here's what I got: 1 Yankees Crushed 2 Dodgers Triumph 3 Grand Slam Then I asked it to make a pun: Yankees slammed in Dodger land! Needs work
  5. I confess to using AI to generate headlines. It's bad. It lets AI in on my style, but can be useful in a deadline rush. I think it's enturely possible that tabloids would go to AI headlines
  6. We beat the shit out of the MFYs this year, for what that's worth
  7. Whoa what a finish to game 1. Freddy grand slam in the 10th
  8. Is there another interpretation? I would think Zeile being gay and fastidious, having kids in showbiz, would be on our team. But you never know.
  9. Butto was a higher rated prospect than deGrom was. I'm not sure he deserves to be a dark horse. The right answer is Iglesias from this year
  10. For a long time, Seaver was the only deserving of a retired number. Then achieveing a retired number became easier, so they had to separate Seaver again. If you start giving out statues to everyone we'd need another way to honor Seaver, which would be to exhume him and bury him in the parking lot underneath a gigantic orange and blue tombstone
  11. 1 bobby Klaus 2 Jason vargas
  12. One of the all-time best windups. Complete sensation when he arrived akin to The Bird but distinct. Perfect figure for Los Angeles. Threw the scroogie
  13. I'm not sure I buy Passan's premise that we've definitively turned some corner as an organization. It would be nice but I also think: 1- 2024 will be a hard act to follow, and 2- all that magic and we damn near missed the playoffs anyway. Agree with Ben that this year reminded me most of 1999, one of my favorite Met seasons. 1984 a little too--tho that was a real signal of a team on the rise. I'd like to see more killer prospects on the way.
  14. 3 Duffy Dyer. 5 mark carreon
  15. Obviously not an intended outcome but Grimace really mobilized the fan base and made the Mets a thing in culture.
  16. One of the reasons the Grimace worked so well was the way he brought innocent mascot mischief back into the park. That used to be Mr Met's game, before he morphed into his current role as a jolly but not funny cheerleader. I don't think Ms Met has helped his game either. She's exactly like he is only with boobs. They come off as interns in costumes. What are your thoughts?
  17. We got Daniel Murphyed by Tommy Edman. At least we ended the series for the Phillies and Brewers and made it further than the Braves.
  18. The criteria was 5 straight games by 4 or more, not 3 disconnected blowouts. Stark is based in Philadelphia and the Athletic/Times is a national/global focus.
  19. =Methead post_id=176884 time=1729340651 user_id=61] =ashie62 post_id=176876 time=1729338078 user_id=90] Huey Lewis and MTV era was a great time in my life
  20. Cleveland turning this back onto a game. Big Christmas hitting with tying and go-ahead runners on, 7th inning Sent one to the fence where it was caught. Gimenez whiffed. 6-5 MFYs going to 8th
