1. The retail is in phase 2 so you'd be living without a convenient food store for a while. Plus your neighborhood would be a construction zone for a few years-- more if Cohen builds his project in the parking lot. But I can see some upsides -- Walkable express station -- 20-25 minutes to Grand Central is pretty sweet. --Very lively downtown Flushing and its tons of restaurants and shopping just a short walk --Lively Corona and its authentic ethnic shops a slightly longer walk --Gigantic Corona Park and its Unisphere, Queens Museum, soccer fields and cricket pitches --walk to US Open --Walk to MLS --Mets and NYCFC have designs on being global superbrands of the future --housing is supposed to be "affordable"
2. I rode my bike by the park the other day and was surprised to see housing going up in such a hurry on 126th street (aka Seaver Way). The entire street from Roosevelt to Northern Blvd. is closed off for all the construction going on, with buildings on the Northeast corner of Roosevelt & 126 already looking like housing. Further down the street --right opposite the bullpen entrance--the new NYCFC stadium is going up but that will be Phase 2. I used to think it would be fun to live beneath the bleachers at Big Shea. How would you feel about living across the street from Citi?
3. Every tab has multiple "Meet the Mess" covers. What a disgrace. If I was in charge I'd ask that editor to step into my office.
4. =bmfc1 post_id=179417 time=1732105345 user_id=73] “Meet the Mess” might be the laziest and most repeated headline in the Derby.
5. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I know it's going to get slaughtered but ADAM BOMBS 💣 deserves some love ❤️ It got one of my votes, because of how happy I was when they realized he sucked. (The headline was clever, too.) who's "they"? And why would you be happy about such a thing?
6. I know it's going to get slaughtered but ADAM BOMBS 💣 deserves some love ❤️
7. Strauss is a German Carhartt competitor. First read home comfort was a furniture store. Surely you recognize Amana. If you lived in a cheap apartment building it was the brand of fridge there
8. The Houston Astros and Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, Inc (Daikin) today announced they have reached an agreement on a 15-year, exclusive naming-rights partnership that brands the home of the Astros as Daikin Park. The agreement, effective January 1, 2025, will run through the 2039 season, and includes official naming rights, other partnership benefits, and giving back to the Greater Houston community through educational programming and youth sports development in underserved communities. Daikin Industries, Ltd.(DIL) is a leading global indoor comfort solutions provider with over 98,000 employees around the world, and over 22,000 employees across Daikin group companies in the U.S.. The company was founded in Japan on Oct. 25, 1924, and recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. Daikin constructed and operates a 4.2 million square foot campus, the largest HVAC manufacturing facility in North America (Daikin Texas Technology Park), located in Waller, Texas, a part of the Greater Houston community. Daikin provides jobs for approximately 10,000 people in the Greater Houston area. In addition to Daikin products, the company also provides Goodman, Amana®, and Quietflex brand products, three of the most well-known and respected brands for HVAC in North America. “We are excited to be partnering with Daikin for our ballpark's naming rights,” said Jim Crane, Owner and Chairman of the Houston Astros. “Daikin is an international company that proudly calls the Greater Houston area its North American home. The Houston Astros and Daikin share the same values, a commitment to excellence and a desire to give back to our local community. As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this ballpark in 2025, I am proud to have Daikin alongside us to create even more special memories for our fans now and in the future.” etc etc
9. Wilpons were more concerned with the appearance of addressing problems than addressing problems.
10. Omar also made the very stupid JJ Putz trade, giving up Heilman, Jason Vargas, Joe Smith and Endy Chavez, among others, for an out-of-shape injured reliever and two other worthless players (Jeremy Reed and Sean Green)
11. Omar also traded Brian Bannister for Ambiorix Burgos, so not every trade he made was brilliant. But his signature move was taking on Adam Rubin "has lobby." That really should have embarrassed the organization every bit as much as a drunk-driving incident. I voted for Brodie but hadn't given it much thought. Smg makes a convincing argument for Zack Scott.
12. It's not the Best Action Picture Derby, it's the Tabloid Cover Derby
13. Please vote for hair force one. Thank you

16. Mentioned before but all of the awards, one night, no leaking of candidates, combined with AFL all-star and skills competition, and the Venezuelan vs Dominican Winter League All-Star Classic, and a Live Rule 5 Draft, and presentation of the luxury tax checks, at the Winter Meetings, only now they've been renamed the Winter Baseball Equinox & Dealmaking Expo 24.
17. Mendy will win but all 3 guys will get votes
18. Was Kaz Matsui posted, or was he just a regular free agent?
19. different point sizes should disqualify a cover
20. 6.5 out of 10. Completely predictable but also several genuinely funny moments. Sunny vibe overall
21. Guy meets girl, except she's not the right girl... OR IS SHE?!?? Romantic hijinks ensue.
22. We should be talking about Roki Sasaki
23. Just throwing this put there. Soto isn't a great fielder or baserunner today, difficult to imagine he will be any better over an 8 or 10 year contract he's about to sign.
