  1. yeah I hate all the NL teams this year. And screw the Brewers, they kept us out. Give me an Oakland or Minnesota WS champion this year
  2. i stopped paying attention in July. Rumor is the Lunchladies might be on the block. Forbes values the franchise at 1.5 dollars
  3. Maybe not like, a guy you wanna go get beers with fun, but buttoned-up Whitey Herzog fun. A manager who manages, has equity as a talent evaluator, strong opinions on how things oughta be done fun.
  4. I just finished a book on how intertwined the careers of the Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, CSN, the Byrds, the Doors, the Wrecking Crew, Mama & Papas etc became in that area, all built around a culmination in the Manson Family murders. EVERYDODY HAD AN OCEAN (William McKeen) is a little unweildy at times but pretty comprehensive and insider-y perspective on the connections of the people in those bands. I'd read about a million BBs bios before so knew that stuff pretty intimately but learned more about the Dennis Wilson & Charlie relationship and a lot I didn;t know about Cass Elliott and the rest of em.
  5. I think Buck might be fun.
  6. I was going to forward that Nueiwy game as a darkhorse. The fans needed that one desperately too. I was sneaking the radio broadcast while walking through a zoo with Wifey Bucket's parents-in-law. As shocking an event as I can remember.
  7. I always feel bad for outgoing Mets managers because it's never 100% their fault. Mickey I feel was sorta left to twist a bit by the administration, tried to carry out the directives but never really found a comfortable footing. And the Diaz-Familia failures really doomed him. Beyond that both his teams really underachieved in the early going, I think partially because they were underprepared, and he couldn't pull either one out nearly in time, and that's on him. My feeling is its such now that you can't craft a Diaz-Familia comeback that includes Mickey, or a complete picture of the Brodie Era Mets without him naming his own field general. I think its possible that a club like Pittsburgh or Kansas City could get a chastened and more wisdom-infused Mickey to be their manager and be successful.
  8. They do but we have to revisit the scorebook. Already the quants are complaining that Wheeler got jobbed for the MVP, as we overlooked a Tuesday Night Home Run in addition to his Tuesday Mound dominance
  9. Can't wait for them to release those balls
  10. oh, forgot: http://mbtn.net/images/broom.jpg>
  11. ...a Typewriter Chewing Gum spokesman would not immediately confirm the rumors
  12. At a star-studded gala, the Tuesday Night Mets Club presented JD Davis with the honor of being named the Tuesday Night Mets MVP, while Zack Wheeler coasted to the Tuesday Night Cy Young award. Davis strafed the Mets Tuesday Night home opponents for a .542 batting average, 2 home runs and 6 RBI. His highlights included a dramatic opposite field 3-run Homer off Wander Suero of the Nationals May 21 keying an unforgettable come-from-behind-then-blow-then-walkoff 6-5 victory. Davis narrowly defeated teammate Wilson Ramos for Tuesday Terrific news. The portly catcher also smashed two Tuesday Taters and drove in 6 runs while hitting .310. Pete Alonso also drew some votes for delivering 4 round trippers including his Met-record tying 41st, and 7 RBIs on Tuesdays, although his batting average was just .166. Finally generating some votes was Robinson Cano, who turned in the Mets' best single-game Tuesday Night of the year with 3 bombs and 5 RBI vs San Diego July 23. The Tuesday Night Mets Pitcher of the Year was Zach Wheeler, who went 3-0 with 2 no-decisions in 5 Tuesday Night home starts. The Mets won all the TN games he started. Wheeler on Tuesdays fired 35.1 innings, striking out 37, and posted a 1.52 ERA. His highlights included scoreless outings over Philly and Miami, and whiffing 8 MFYs in 6.1 innings July 2. The 2019 Tuesday Night Mets are noted for their remarkable 9-2 record, excluding the first home Tuesday of the year, for which the Club did not purchase tickets. That is by far the best Tuesday Night record in the 4 year history of the gathering. Both players are rumored to be immortalized on Typewriter Chewing Gum special inserts.
  13. So if Mickey gets whacked as expected, occurred to me that there is a chance that he gets replaced by a Joe. But which one? Assuming here that Madden gets whacked as well, and Houston's bench coach is the candidate the Post says he is.
  14. One thing I learned reading Tyler Kepners book was how difficult it is to develop a changeup. Some guys just can't, and even guys with good ones take years to get them right. I'm more pessimistic about Diaz than most of you but agree the Mets don't have any choice but to hope he improves his results. I think he's going to cost Mickey his job and the most likely storyline going into next year will be how the new manager will make him better
  15. Sorry not Noesi but Netfali Feliz
  16. Bush on everyone's part
  17. I pointed this out when we got him but his most similar was Hector Noesi, I think, who also has 1 outstanding season as a young reliever. He easily could have had his best days already.
  18. We've been calling him Tracky for like 7 years.
  19. Gotta keep this Wheeler guy.
  20. =G-Fafif post_id=23050 time=1569540277 user_id=55] =kcmets post_id=23045 time=1569536899 user_id=53] Not to be the OCD thread police twice in one week but it's the 26th!!
  21. Matz and Synderpaants really let us down in September.
