1. Why don't they also fire the numbnuts who investigated, wrote and sent out the first statement. Unless that was also Taubman
2. =41Forever post_id=25129 time=1571941249 user_id=69] Mike Silva @MikeSilvaMedia A very plugged in source told me that we all should put Tim Bogar as the favorite to get the #Mets job... not a definite but I would start doing research on him. #nymets #lgm
3. really starting to wonder why they didn't just keep Mickey "See you tomorrow, Mickey." That's why
4. Eh. I believe if the Mets really liked Girardi most they could have/would have gotten him. Presuming they wind up with another 1st timer, what this does is to introduce the specter for any 2020 Met managerial criticism to be viewed in the context of eschewing the most experienced candidate. But that's a tough hook to hang a big decision on
5. There's got to be hundreds of shitbags who'd like to be a MLB umpire. Just give us a shitbag who doesn't threaten violence in defense of a criminal
6. Cubs hiring David Ross, Hey man says
7. btw, great song:
8. Yeah he sucks. And the way the Astros screwed up this issue with their dumbass front office flunky is making me a Nats fan.
9. And if I may continue on this topic, a bad breakup also brought me back to baseball. This, with a real person. But I latched very quickly onto the Mets as a thing to get devoted to again, used games as a good place to have dates, etc. This was the 1997 club which was compelling. Oh, and I found a bunch of likeminded freaks on the internet who shared my rediscovered passion
10. It's weird to say this now, but the other thing that contributed to my baseball leave of absence was a bad breakup ... of a Fantasy League started among me and a buncha college friends. I feel like we "discovered" rotisserie shortly after its "invention" (the league written about by Dan Okrent et al) and the first draft we held--12 old friends in a room, live bidding, laughs, beer, crazy times--probably in 1990, we thought it would last forever. But it eventually got ugly, some guys owed money, others said they would then didn't show for subsequent drafts or stopped paying attention when they were't winning and got humiliated when they lost, still others had the temerity to get married and get on with their lives. It just crashed, and it was such a letdown from what was really fun that first season.
11. Sherm says Bell and Schumacher were told to fuck off. I mean thanked for coming in
12. That's good in Bogie's case because the statistics measured that he sucked. I'm proud to be leading the Tim Bogar 4 Manager Bandwagon, even as I didn;t realize that was my position until I woke up this morning and didn't even realize he was coaching Washington and not Houston till Greg told me so on Twitter. But ya know, that's just as good. He comes with knowledge of the enemy.

Bogar played mainly during my "Wilderness Years" when I was out of state, no games on TV, fresh off "Worst Team" era, and the strike that led to an additional year of pay-no-mind-to-baseball. Basically I missed almost the entire Dallas Green Era, returning only in time to see it end.
14. Mets by the Numbers has http://www.mbtn.net/?p=3162officially endorsed Tim Bogar, even though he's behind in Iowa.
15. I've convinced myself it's gonna be Tim Bogar. * He'll be coming with the pixie dust of Houston's success (also has coached with Texas, Boston, Seattle) * he actually has some managerial experience (he finished out the 2014 season skippering the Rangers after Ron Washington was canned--he went 14-8!) * has front-office experience as an assistant to Jerry DiPoto * Minor league manager of the year 3X * Has experience getting a good performance out of Robinson Cano (Seattle's bench coach to Scott Servais) * he's an original Met (7th round draft of 87) and is the grandfather of the club's longest active Trade Chain -- Traded to Houston in 1997 for Luis Lopez Lopez went to Milwaukee for Bill Pulsipher Pulsipher went to Arizona for Lenny Harris Harris went to Milwaukee for Jeromy Burnitz Burnitz was traded to the Dodgers for Victor Diaz Diaz was traded to Texas for Mike Nickeas Nickeas was included in the Syndergaard deal
16. My issue with Buck isn't his game-calling per se, or his network-shilling, but rather, there's something underlying his tone that makes it seem as though he hates what he does for a living. Baseball's just not enough fun when he calls it, even when it's very fun, even when his calls are good ones. Maybe that's unitentional, maybe not. Maybe he's just too high and mighty. But in the sense that's there's only 1 man in the world do do the national play by play of baseball's biggest games, I would choose a guy with a better energy, and more friendly companion, than Buck.
17. Willets Point wrote: Well that was definitely the SECOND best Game 6 of an LCS between Houston and New York ever. And the second-best left field to first base double play in league championship series history
18. Wow. he apparently just had knee surgery and was felled by a blood clot
19. I'm rooting for 7 games and a Houston win
20. Each teams wife-beating closer surrendered a two run homer
21. (Houston leading 4-2 in the 9th, 1 on, 1 out, Lemhieu up)
