1. There's almost a Trumpian strain of erasing the Alderson Era among the Wilpons isn't there?
2. The murmurs are coalescing around Beltran as manager, Collins as bench coach. No shouts yet. I predicted that! Stupid Fred Johnny Lunchbucket in one of the 50 other manager threads wrote: I think Terry could come back as Beltran's bench coach, were they to go in that direction. Not that I'd recommend they do
3. I may have told this story before but I met Hondo in like, 1989 or 90 when he was working for Jim Beam, making appearances at liquor stores to sell stuff and I was a clueless local news reporter. I was trying to interview him and he was like a Matt Harvey talking about Qualcomm, only he was good-natured about it. JL: What was it like managing a Young Darryl Strawberry? FH: I was fortunate to be with a lot of good young guys. Now, this here product is great.... JL: What do you make of the Orioles? FH: The difference between a good team and a bad team is only couple of good players. This Jim Beam is aged 7 years...
4. I'd already forgotten about the deGrom Scare. It's weird, but its like the headline writers and page designers aren't into it yet by this point of the season either.
5. =G-Fafif post_id=25657 time=1572575808 user_id=55] Sherman reports Bogar is out.
6. Yeah, "take that, Nats!" Yeah! We showed THEM. Not 4 nothing but we were Nationals' worst nightmare this year. If we played 162 games against them this year, we'd have been a 103-win team and they a 103-loss team. Pythagorean is kinder to the Nats but we still get into the playoffs (91-71) and they don't
7. We've really been too hard on Nats fans https://twitter.com/The_UnSilent_/status/1189784349677424640
8. It's getting really Asdrubally around here
9. This game needs some Bazooka Joe Smith
10. It's never been my cup of meat but I can support edit teams standing up to bad bosses. That whole group has published a lot of garbage over the years and called it brilliant journalism
11. Some Guy with 58 followers on Twitter says Eduardo Perez just landed at LaGuardia
12. Yanks whack pitching coach Larry Rothschild
13. A rare win for Newsday this time. I love the playfulness of the dueling Vegas covers but the Post wins that battle with a better shot of Brodie... I gave both a vote though. Kudos to Mr Met as Elvis.
14. The only possible standout here is BACKIE ROBINSON! but mainly for the what d'ya know pre-hed
15. Geez what a buncha stinkos to kick off the blessed event.
16. Dark blue Nats unis aren't great. Not that the original was any good. But, number font entirely too thick. Was same issue with latter-day Expos jerseys, after they perfected the thin and stylish uni number
17. Another umpire, Chuck Meriwether, dies at 63. He retired a few years ago.
18. Break out the Schneider Schardonnay. This guy was such a disappointment as a Met. Convinced he signed here only because he believed he could get rich making commercials.
19. I think Terry could come back as Beltran's bench coach, were they to go in that direction. Not that I'd recommend they do
