Interesting piece in Baseball America on discussions around a radical change to MiLB as sides renegotiate the expiring agreement. Perhaps just a starting point but MLB proposing pay raises for players but at the cost of dozens of teams, hundreds of players, a radical realignment and introduction of an affiliated but unsupported Dream League as a salve for some shutouts. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-floats-proposal-that-would-eliminate-42-minor-league-teams/https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-floats-proposal-that-would-eliminate-42-minor-league-teams/
I tried to do the 41st ranked Blue Hens but ran out of 2019 MLB players after SP Jon Duplantier, INF Joey Wendle and 1B Paul Goldschimdt. P Chad Kuhl made the club but will miss the tournament with an injury. They're gonna get killed

Who else was the next so-called savior before Mickey got the blessing of Fred? Here it is: http://archives.thecranepool.net/26000/f1_t26079.shtmlWho will manage the Mets? (split from Terry Hot Seat) I dont think I'd ever seen a clean-shaven Mickey till I reopened that thread.
I can never think of his name, it's far too normal. BTW I got interested in this after watching a youtube rerun of "Bands Reunited" featuring the Alarm. I suspect I've already desert-islanded them but don't remember.
This is why you don't go walking around believing there's some force at work actually preventing a particular team from doing a particular thing on a particular day. (Except for the Twins. THey'll never beat the MFYs) Lots of moms-basement Mets fans should be eating shit now
The thing that bothers me about Kay for Stroman is that Kay could presumably fight for a rotation slot (he was already starting for TOR) and could become one of the bullpen pieces we say we need. Same with Dunn too
Where it fell short for us was the whole tacked on melodrama of the fatherhood angle, and I really never found the bandleader compelling enough. The songs were all by the Alarm singer, who makes an appearance at the opening funeral scene.
There was an interview with him where he explained it, he had to adjust to how they were pitching him. What I like about McNeil is that he really is capable of being both guys. I guess sometimes late in the season I wish he was the first guy.
Has-been Welsh rock band reforms behind a new song, but finding no market for dad-rockers hires young imposters to execute the ensuing musical hijinx. Based on the true story of a modestly successful caper pulled by the Alarm, with considerable liberties.
My inclination is to think they are making a show of minority outreach with Beltran and that Fred Wilpon wouldn't abide by paying him any more than he already has given their history. I'm still leaning toward Buck for whatever reason. Also today saw they've invited the Twins bench coach Derrick something to interview, a new name to me
I'm thinking Callaway pulls out from the early-season Washington slide too late and doesn't find the right bullpen mix in time to rebound enough -- he's fired. Maybe before the season ends. Kapler's Braves probably still win the division but with a serious challenge from Snitker's Mets. They meet again in the playoffs! Martinez goes home with a close-but-no-cigar Phillies unit and also looks for work
Would be interesting to somehow replay the 2019 season with say, Snitker managing the Mets; Callaway skippering the Nats; Kapler in charge of the Braves and Martinez with Philly. Two of them presumably would be out of work today, but which 2?
Besides, and Mets fans don't really wanna admit this to themselves, it was at best a brave but foolish play by Tejada made necessary by a very bad play by Muffy, as much as it was a dirty play by Utley that led to that tragedy
