So we saw this and felt it was kinda funny. Was expecting a 2.5 at best but it delivered a solid 3. (Wifey: 3.5). I don't even remember the score or what the Bedchel Test is.

They actually don't get much snow as cities located on Great Lakes go, for whatever reason. Buffalo gets a ton more for example. And there's dense luxury living where Pete would barely have to leave his home to go play, or just get ubers directly from his heated parking garage. It's a paradise up there I'm telling you. The only reason Pete would prefer here to there is because he voted for the wrong candidate

Really good performances, won a bunch of awards, but it was a little draggy for me and the plot worked out more or less like I thought it would. The twists were realistic but as a result not twisty enough for a tension-filled movie. -

It's not a good movie. But I can see myself re-watching it for the cheese factor. -- almost unknown Kevin Costner -- hilariously dated subplot about the dawn of sports medicine and cringe gym scenes --biking is also way dated. They use helmets and not cowboy hats today --big cliché sports movie. The villain in addition to being a nasty ex-husband of Costner's babe, is raging mad in every scene, cheats, impolite to the press etc. How 7-Eleven allowed a character like this to be clad head to toe in their gear I'll never know -- the Russian cyclist was so obviously not Russian --puzzling medical issue never really explained --Young [CROSSOUT]Jennifer Grey[/CROSSOUT] Alexandra Paul is worth seeing -

He's a jock but he's not jocky, kinda goofy and immature, intelligent, his own man. You can root for him, he's not a classic hero. His friend Kutch is all facade, and tragically so. I thought he was good. My issue was the girl. She wasn't consistently played, swinging from bitchy tough chick to sensitive artist, and she didn't know whether to go for the 18 year old or the 34 year old but it wasn't like she was confused, she just wasn't following a linear path. Too much Pat Benatar not enough Susanna Hoffs

I thought this movie was better than most "brat pack" coming-of-age films. I didn't read the novel it was based on but you could sorta tell that was original. --I didn't know Spokane had a busy downtown with hotels and taxis --Weird that an 18-year-old student can hang out in a bar that his teacher is in and nobody raises an eyebrow. --Sign of the times that confessing to not participating in a gangbang is a source of shame --Fairly typical sports-movie ending but at least the opponent wasn't an over-the-top villain --"It's not 6 minutes. It's what happens in them" (or something) --Big 80s soundtrack with Madonna, Journey's brightly arranged "Only the Young," and "Lunatic Fringe" which became a wrestling-team anthem.
