1. Don't sleep on Kleber Gamez.
2. Am I the only person who saw this?!? --Solid performances and music performances. I liked whathisname as Pete Seeger especially, Bob's women somewhat less. --Didn't reveal enough of what made Dylan good. It was just like, he's a good songwriter, what more do you want? --Usual biopic issues of compressed timelines, etc
3. Obnoxious folksinger encounters hijinks in New York and Rhode Island.
4. You just wonder if Boras won't slow-walk it if the interest doesn't immediately materialize
5. I thought I remembered stories that the Cubs were hot for Pete.
6. Gosh, I was worried people would see this and think I recommended it. I had a few problems 1-It's set in Queens and even has it in the tile but could have been anywhere. Other than doing one of those drive-bys to establish location at the beginning (oh look! Citi Field!) there was little there but for neighborhood houses, exteriors of that banquet hall on Queens Boulevard, and what looked like the make-out spot in Forest Park--I ride my bike there. 2-About 30% the movie takes place in a car--the kid has his own car. Nobody takes a train anywhere. 3-I didn't buy any Dad making such a dumb mistake as Ray did, or the girl following through, or the kid buying it. 4-Mom's Queens accent sounded like a Wisconsin accent. I did like that it was understated and sweet at its core and would agree performances were good except for the accent. Giving it a 5
7. Just me but we should keep him
8. Sadsack dad and sadder sack kid encounter emotional hijinks at home, at work, and in college. Set in Glendale.
9. Girl goes on a hiking trip with her dad and his friend. Hijinks ensue.
10. That's the one!
11. Had a baseball card that was a closeup profile dominated by the pinkish glow of his White Sox batting helmet. One of the most distinctive cards in my early collection
12. 6.5 out of 10. Completely predictable but also several genuinely funny moments. Sunny vibe overall
13. Guy meets girl, except she's not the right girl... OR IS SHE?!?? Romantic hijinks ensue.
14. FY Yankee Blue Jeans with an historic collapse, never got over the trade of Mark Leiter to the American League (plus other stuff). Winner you may know as Bernie Sanders didn't even show up for the draft
15. A proper obituary would have revealed what UL stood for. We called him Underwriters Laboratory. It turns out those weren't initials but his given name.
16. I was at the Steve J Rogers Center last Sunday. They really improved it since last time I was there -- big renovation this off-season or last. We had a great time, Jays defeated the Angels 5-2. We are in Toronto again this weekend moving Lunchpail to his swanky dorm.
17. I didn't need to read play by play of Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. I wanted to know what made Pete Rose tick. Remarkably little about betting in the book, more about dog racing during spring training.
18. There is a newish Pete Rose bio that is said to be the best of them but I read it and would hope someone can still do better.
19. I went in there totally ignorant of it being a "real life" group and didn't know till they came out afterward. That's partly because it was so obviously fiction but a credit to their acting. So there were a lot of references to their music I missed in the film. I'd say this wasn't perfect but a couple of great scenes, a lot of energy, definitely entertaining.
20. Political hijinks abound when 2 tracksuit-wearing drug dealers and a teacher in Belfast form a rap group that sings in Gaelic. The alleged story of the origin of the real-life group Kneecap, starring its actual members. We saw a super exclusive preview with the director and cast last night, opens Friday at a theater near you.
21. I'm going to come out and say it: That first post is the best in the history of the Adopt-A-Prospect Forum.
22. Fun fact: by the time Stanley was promoted to Bingo this year, he owned Cyclones all-time records for he 23-year-old holds the Cyclones all-time records for hits (186), runs scored (111), doubles (40), home runs (35), RBI (121), extra-base hits (81), outfield assists (19) and games played (209). Brooklyn's ascending from rookie to A ball helped. Stanley is 23 and been with the org since 17.
23. In sitting here in a restaurant in midtown and while Wifey Bucket is in the loo, I will adopt Stanley Consuegra. Outfielder getting it on in Brooklyn. I think he hits righthanded
24. Eccentric woman in the forests of rural Poland takes a self-styled approach to animal rights. Hijinks ensue
25. I believe the Mets payroll situation penalizes their draft-pick compensation, and we'd only get a 4th round pick if Alonso bails
