  1. 1. Give Waddell the start the next time this turn comes around the rotation. 2. Brazoban to Syracuse for a rest/re-focus. 3. Not sure what the solution is for the offense but I'm open to suggestions.
  2. =ashie62 post_id=196572 time=1751141406 user_id=90] He's not dead booth wtf
  3. 1,273. Frankie Montas 1,274. Dicky Lovelady
  4. Agree except Acuna should be the occasional defensive replacement for Vientos. Even once Vientos comes back — with Acuna, Baty, Taylor, Torrens, and Young, there are just way too many players who don’t hit nearly enough. Taylor and Torrens get to stay because they play premium positions, and I guess Acuna has value with the glove/speed — so Baty and Young need to go.
  5. 1,272. Tyler Zuber
  6. L. Nolan Ryan has to be one of them.
  7. In fairness it was more pronounced a year or two ago, when Wayne Randazzo was still there. Wayne was very anti-Manfred man and Howie was very pro.
  8. Howie also has expressed way too much approval for the fake runner in extra innings so I think we can pull back on that “purist” title jusssssst a little bit. His play-by-play remains excellent but I sense that Howie is leaning too much into main character syndrome and thinking people want as much of his curmudgeon shtick as he'll give them.
  9. Peterson is the man. Mets have their best record since the last day of the 2022 season.
  10. This is where Stearns has some potential leverage. A lot of big market teams (PHI, ATL, LAD, TOR, HOU) have long-term contracts with first baseman, and another set of teams (CHC, BAL, DET, KC, CIN) have cost-controlled young players there. And of course it seems pretty unlikely that Sacramento, CHW, MIA, TB, COL, PIT, MIL, MIN, or ARZ is going to spend that sort of money. STL is supposed to be rebuilding. That leaves a pretty limited pool: San Francisco, Boston, the other NY team, Seattle, Texas, maybe San Diego or Anaheim.
  11. Assuming you didn’t mean it tongue-in-cheek: 1. That’s a pretty inflammatory thing to say about Boras without any proof to back it up. 2. If Boras is well known to us for attempting to secure the highest dollars possible — how could we think his potential clients don’t also know this? Put another way, if someone hires the Boras Corp. as their agent, why do we think they aren’t doing so eyes open and specifically because they are looking to make as much money as possible??
  12. One wonders if it wouldn't be better to have Lindor at DH and Mauricio at SS.

I kind of think we *do* deserve Lindor, especially after a lot of really bad years in that 2009-2020 window. I do agree it might be a while before we see another player like him come this way again.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: But he was adopting the 'Don't just stand there, Do Something!' approach with a first place team. People forget that Lindor had gone down with an oblique injury and was out for 5 weeks beginning in mid-July (when the team was indeed in first place).
  15. Some odd decisions by Mendoza: -Garrett was left in to face Conforto when Waddell was up and Dodgers had no righties on the bench. -Jared Young as choice of pinch runner rather than Ronny Mauricio is a surprise to me (Holding Mauricio back to have a shortstop made sense if Lindor was available to hit…but he must not have been if Acuna was allowed to hit).
  16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: What about Lucas Duda? Lucas is currently the assistant hitting coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville. Maybe he's busy (although September is usually the offseason for college baseball?) https://lipscombsports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/lucas-duda/1490https://lipscombsports.com/sports/baseball/roster/coaches/lucas-duda/1490
  17. =whippoorwill post_id=194594 time=1749154082 user_id=79]I'd love to watch this. For some reason we've been getting Mets games on odd channels this year. But if not, we're content with the Pirates.
  18. Lindor has a broken right pinkie toe. Hoping to avoid IL says DiComo.
  19. I think this was just announced: the Mets are doing a pre-game “alumni classic” 3 inning game on Saturday September 13 before the game vs Texas (which is also the first series in which deGrom returns to New York). Not quite an “old-timers” day as all the participating players are from the 1990s-2010s. Looks like a great lineup. https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/t_w1024/v1749136607/mlb/eijuxiajhxvroobmmkaz.jpghttps://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/t_w1024/v1749136607/mlb/eijuxiajhxvroobmmkaz.jpg
  20. Objectively it's just one game but it feels like a big massive difference to win the series 3-1 versus a split. A big game to get here.
  21. DiComo: [TWEET] [/TWEET]
  22. DiComo reports: Hamstring strain, degree of seriousness not yet known, Vientos going back to NY for further testing.
  23. That's a real nice bounceback after the craptacular first inning. Well done by Megill.
  24. Feels like Marte should have scored on that double.
  25. It hasn’t been a day, though. It occured at 10 PM Pacific last night and it’s 12:50 PM there now as I post this. I’m sure he’ll get an MRI but Mendoza’s pre-game press conference isn’t going to happen for a few hours and what is there to say before then / who are they going to say it to?
