  1. I believe that’s when he’s eligible to be activated off the 60-day IL, not when he’s expected back. Britton’s weekly preview at the Athletic has him expected back in August. Mike Puma of the Post reported today that Raley is pitching live BP and could be in minor league games by the end of June.
  2. One more win to get the season series. Owning that tiebreak could be real useful later in the season.
  3. Megill is probably the better hitter but is also the SP tomorrow so that's why I expected Peterson.
  4. Nobody left on the bench, so if this game keeps going, David Peterson is going to be our DH.
  5. Tim Britton of the Athletic indicated that Blackburn is only scheduled to get the one start in LA and would remain in the bullpen, with Montas on track for 6/23 against Atlanta, the next time the Mets would need a sixth starter.
  6. =Centerfield post_id=194254 time=1748910011 user_id=65]It's bullshit that the Mets don't get an off day. We go across the country without rest.

  8. Not announced yet but it'll certainly be Chris Devenski being sent to Syracuse.
  9. LA matchups: Blackburn vs. Dustin May ® May hasn't been anything special. 3-4, 4.20 in 10 starts, 1.24 WHIP. Megill vs. Clayton Kershaw (L) This is Kershaw's fourth start of the year. He started the Friday night game in NY that had the rain delay (he only pitched 2 innings). He had a good start against Cleveland this week (5 innings, 74 pitches, 1 run, 6 hits/2 BB/3K). He got shellacked in his first start back against the Angels. Canning vs. Tony Gonsolin ® Mets got him for 4 runs on 7 hits in last weekend's Saturday game. Soto had the double that was a foot or two shy of the three run homer. He faced the Yankees this weekend and gave up 5 runs (coming on 4 homers) in 6 innings. Peterson vs. Landon Knack ®, 4:10 PM Eastern start. He pitched ok against the Mets last Sunday (3 runs in 6 innings, but only 1 was earned); Alonso got him for a homer. Also pitched well against the Yankees 2 days ago (1 run in 6 innings) although in fairness he was working with a 10 run lead by the second inning.
  10. =ashie62 post_id=194061 time=1748694496 user_id=90] Roku game
  11. Successful. Sent you one back.
  12. Was curious because I agreed this is how it seems. =Centerfield post_id=193908 time=1748456555 user_id=65] By my unofficial count, the Mets lose 98.4% of all day games before an off-day. Leaving you days to dwell on that shitty loss.
  13. That's a good point, too. Even if using names, it probably should be just last names. (No malice attributed, I'm sure it's just familiarity since Nimmo is a friendly guy)
  14. Bob Alpacadaca wrote: Megill has some moments, but I think he's the odd man out when Montas, Manaea and Blackburn return. Isn't Blackburn the most likely odd man out? Sure, he'll join the team as a sixth starter but barring some obvious transformation into a good pitcher, it seems like he would be replaced when Montas/Manaea return.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: Soto reached 1st safely and then was called out for passing Nimmo between 1st & 2nd. I guess the fact that Nimmo wound up back on 1st base is what negates the hit but that seems like a non-sensical exception. I agree it must be scored a hit. Because it is a force play, a hit can only be awarded if the preceding runner reaches the base safely to which he is forced. But, Nimmo *did* reach second safely. The fact that he later retreated should be of no consequence. The only prohibitions on running the bases backwards is (a) for purposes of confusing the defense or ( to make a travesty of the game.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Umpires calling runners out by name on the PA is also a bad precedent. The fact that the umpire specifically made a clear statement to the crowd about the call and the result is to be applauded. Saying “Juan Soto” is probably not best practice and it should have been “Number 22” or “batter-runner” but I'm ok with excusing it here because the explanation was clear and necessary.

  18. Curious choice since the last-minute change is quite disappointing to people with jobs, school, etc. Mets and White Sox are both off Thursday, with Mets staying at home and White Sox playing in Baltimore on Friday…so no travel restrictions that would prevent playing Thursday if needed. National Weather Service says a 40% chance of showers Thursday evening versus 70% Wednesday evening (and 30% during the day Wednesday).
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Mets get a surprise run! Wayne Randazzo noted that Muncy had no argument when it was called. Not entirely clear if it was just careless wandering in front of Marte at the wrong time or getting caught trying to gain an advantage…but it was an immediate and definitive call from the ump.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Howie also seemed to think that Lindor had a possible tag play on Ohtani headed for 2nd but seemed to assume that Conforto was going to be called out for leaving early upon appeal and didn't really pursue it. Sounded more like speculation than fact. Not sure what Lindor was thinking but it is accurate that if he was playing it aggressively he would have had a shot at tagging Ohtani out, and that he wasn't paying attention to Ohtani.
  21. Soto and Taylor (lightly) collided, and the ball hit Soto's glove before Taylor caught it barehanded in the outfield. Conforto tagged up after first touch by Soto but before the catch was secured. Mets threw to second to double-up Conforto (who ran to third) and Conforto was called safe. Mets challenge and unps say it's proper to tag up on first touch.
  22. Targeting August for a return.
  23. I don't want to sound alarming but the Mets haven't had a hit for 4 innings
