    Salary cost is the balance of the $17M for 2025, $17M in 2026 and $21M in 2027, for his age-29, 30, and 31 seasons. That’s well below market rate for a pitcher of his caliber. This is indeed the sort of player for whom you make an exception re: otherwise not trading prospects.

    Cal Quantrill pitching for the Marlins tonight. Things I know about him: 1. Son of former MLB pitcher Paul. 2. Was at the center of a benches clearing incident last year in which Red Sox catcher Reese McGuire yelled at Quantrill and Quantrill responded by taunting McGuire about his prior criminal record for being caught masturbating in a parking lot.

    Francisco Lindor announced this morning the birth of a son, so a roster move for parental leave wouldn't be a surprise.

Not surprisingly you won't see the White Sox or Colorado or Sacramento on that schedule. I'm aware there's a 5 appearance limit in the Sunday night slot but haven't heard that about Apple. As for the future, of course you were exaggerating but if Apple took the ESPN games, that wouldn't be bad.

    At least we got them for opening day. There are two weekends coming up (vs LAD in May, at PHI in June) in which the Friday game is Apple, Saturday Fox, and Sunday ESPN.

    Mets batted first so it’s an easy call that Soto is first here. If Mets were in the field first I’d still go Soto because of batting order as suggested above.

    No offense to Metirish who’s reporting the news but I find both of those claims hard to believe: 1. The Mets were still selling season tickets as of Monday at 5 PM. The idea that they moved every last one? I guess it’s possible… 2. The Mets were drawing well over 3M in the last few years at Shea and even cracked 3M during the first year at Citi Field (the post-2009 attendance peaked at 2.8M in 2016). It would be quite remarkable for season ticket memberships to now exceed what they were back in the 2006-2009 timeframe. I guess it’s possible…but seems unlikely.

    Oh no 1. Please, can this team just for once, have an original idea? This is like when they were playing Sweet Caroline. 2. Those costumes are hideous 3. If this replaces the “Queens Crew,” still a net positive. But overall, this is just bad.

WS Champs (sweep; beat Dodgers 4-1 in NLCS, the only postseason game the Mets lose) 5. Who will be the World Champion? Mets 6. Number of regular season HRs for Pete Alonso: 44 7. Who will be on the cover of the 2025 winner of the Tabloid Cover Derby?

    Britton reports that (1) Senga won't be ready for opening day and (2) Mets had previously expressed interest in not putting Peterson up against the Astros.
