  2. Here's hoping they continue this streak and sweep the Phillies. Todd Helton was 3rd on the active list of "games played without a postseason appearance." (Jeff Cirillo is 1st -- not sure if he's on the DBacks postseason roster. Damion Easley is 2nd).
  3. I believe it works as such: 1. Glavine says "yes" to the option. 2. The Mets then either say yes and pay $13M or say no and pay $3 million as a buyout. Of course, Glavine could just say "no" to the option and walk away (to retire or sign with Atlanta).

  6. I hate Brett Myers and Cole Hamels. Utley reminds me way too much of Jeter. That being said, they remind me somewhat of the '99 Mets. Given the way they trounced us regularly during the season, they deserved to win the division.

Glavine was pretty good, IIRC. I seem to recall that everybody was pretty confident with him going, worrying about Trachsel, Perez and Maine instead.
  9. Crowd was terrible today. Lots of shameful behavior, early exists, inappropriate booing (ie. booing Mota after 2 scoreless innings). Mets declined to take the opportunity anywhere during or after the game to thank the fans for the 3,850,000 tickets sold (and consequently millions of dollars made by the Mets) this year. Putting up the "get home safe" graphic only and not even bothering to thank the fans was a major oversight. Some token thanks was necessary.
  10. Called the Mets to order tix to tomorrow's game on faith during the 5th inning, counting on the Phils to lose. Sitting in the Upper Deck but hafta be there tomorrow.
  11. Tony Gwynn, Jr. just tripled off Hoffman to tie up the Brewers in the bottom of the 9th.
  12. Fuck. Nationals lead down to 2.
  13. Nice play by Fick to knock it down and prevent the double.
  14. 1-1 bottom 4 in Milwaukee, Brewers threatening (1st and 2nd, 1 out).
  15. Strange indeed. Sac Fly gets run #2 home for Washington.
  16. Rollins picked off. Nice.
  17. Fucking Ryan Church.
  18. Eaton got pulled in the 3rd inning with 2 men on and 1 out. Wonder if he comes back on Monday (if necessary).

  20. Willie should pull Reyes and Milledge for Gomez and Hernandez. Seriously. (11 run lead? No problem pulling them both).

  22. ="Nymr83"]]Sunday, October 7 12:00 3:30 7:00 TBA * - on TNT the Jets play the Giants at 1:00, I'd think both NY teams want to avoid the 12 and 330 slots but that means one of them is on at "TBA" which is likely 10pm on the west coast. that could be the mets playing sunday night in san diego? My understanding is that the "TBA" game happens only if all 4 games need to be played, and that it would probably overlap with the existing games. Presumably Turner would want to avoid an overlap with Giants/Jets, so they could schedule that "TBA" game at, say, 5:00 if they wanted.
  23. ="Yancy Street Gang"]The Mets could open in Arizona if the Cubs surge past them and the Mets finish as the third-best division winner. (And the Padres or Rockies take the wild card.) This possibility is eliminated with any 1 Mets win or 1 Cubs loss. ]They could also open on the West Coast if they win the Wild Card and the Diamondbacks or Padres (or Phillies) end up with the best record in the league. Since Arizona has a record that is 5 games better than the Cubs (with 4 to play)-- the West division winner is guaranteed to open at home. Therefore if the Phils take the division and the Mets win the 'card, they are definetly playing the West division winner. Edit: typo.
  24. If the Phillies win the card, the Mets would open at home against the Cubs. I think the Mets will get stuck with the 1:30 game on Wednesday. The primetime game will almost certainly go to either the Red Sox or Yankees. The 5:00 game would presumably go to Phillies/Cubs at West Division Winner. The Mets may get stuck with the 3:30 game on Wednesday also (with the primetime game going to the Red Sox or Yankees, and the 10:30 game to the Phillies/Cubs at West Division winner.
