  1. Vic Sage wrote: It depends on how seriously we're taking the Mets this year. Right now, we're the 3rd best record in the NL. While technically true that's not very descriptive. We are tied with Atlanta in the loss column and 1 game back of San Diego.
  2. I really wanted to give Valverde the comeuppance he deserved. Nice to see them fight back but the failure to put a run across in the 7th (bases loaded) and then 8th was just killer.

  7. When do we pick up his 2011 option / start negotiating his next long-term deal?

  9. I am aware of this situation, Santana said Wednesday, reading from a statement before the Mets game against the Detroit Tigers. What I can tell you is that the police investigated these claims last year, and I was never charged with anything, and the case is closed. Unfortunately, at this time, thats all I can say, and Ill have no further comments.
  10. That's really out of line, even for here. --- I know professional athletes are often targets for these types of allegations but I don't know what to say here. If true, I'd endorse his immediate release. If false, no big deal. Incredibly frustrating to not know the truth on this one.
  11. I need more info about the quality of the rightfielder. Is it Ichiro or Francoeur out there?
  12. I was being sarcastic. Of course Beltran isn't going to be traded. The point was that he was being undervalued.
  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Call me a shithead if you will but I'd trade Beltran's ass out of here for a relief pitcher if I could. Not that I don;t appreciate his greatness, I do. It's just that his knees have fucked up two straight seasons now and I'd prefer to move on now than later. I'd trade him for Cliff Lee, maybe. I won't call you names but his knees have not fucked up any seasons and I think we all know that's a totally disingenuous argument.

  17. We took refuge on the field level during the delay to get our usual rain-delay card game going. Once the tarp was being taken off, we headed over to the elevator to go back up to our seats. Door opens and he's there in the back left corner. I see him immediately but it sure looked like nobody else in the elevator either saw him or was bothering him. As we wait for the elevator to fill up, the elevator operator is talking him to about working at the "Seaver" gate* and, look, here he is in her elevator! He's sort of smiling and thinking that she should stop bothering him. This gave me the opening to then say that "Everybody here's being polite and discreet but we all recognize you and know who you are" which made him laugh. *I didn't think there was a "Seaver Gate" at Citi Field...
  18. Lots of fun, rainout notwithstanding. Although even that worked out, as it led to me running into Seaver in the elevator when returning to my seats. Thought Jerry was slow with the hook for Niese and really, with a 10 run lead at that point (or even 8 after the Boesch HR) I was totally behind Valdes time. Funny moment with Sporz recording his first major league strikeout of Niese (on the missed bunt) and the ball being rolled over to the Tiger dugout -- and Leyland tossed it into the crowd.

  20. Why is he using his LEFT ARM to bowl????????
  21. I believe the idea is to shame them into charging more reasonable fees.
