  3. He gave up one run in the first inning: error, SB, groundout, wild pitch. 1 walk and 8 Ks through 8 innings.
  4. Looks like about one year from now that Jose will be passing Kranepool.
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: No it won't. Exactly. And there's the problem. The umpires aren't going to get better without better accountability.
  6. On to 18. Goodnight Pirates. Let us all wake up to you having defeated the Braves.
  7. And we go on to 16. Braves leaving this reliever Christian Martinez in the game (he's batted three times now). Maybe the Pirates get him in his 6th inning of work.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Single now by Cristian Martinez. That's the Braves pitcher, who's also thrown 3 innings so far.
  9. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: And Larry hurt himself yesterday, in his first day back. The Braves lineup could have the look of Getaway Day every day for the next week or two, at least. We'll take Mike Minor for Beltran, thanks.
  10. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: But... hold on. In the 11th inning of the Pirates-Braves game, Brian McCann sailed a throw on a steal attempt... and came up favoring his back; t'was bad enough that he gave way for David Ross, and was visibly grimacing as he did so. Did the Braves just lose ANOTHER offensive piece from an injury-reeling squad? Yes indeed. Strained oblique, 15 day DL.
  11. Going to 12 now. Go Pirates!
  12. Ok, time to name your price. How much do you want for a copy of the video?
  13. Pirates win and hold on to a tie for first place. They now face Jurrjens-Lowe-Halladay-Lee in a row, on the road. Go Bucs!
  14. (CitiField security looks terrible.) Same problem they have with just about every other person that works there: they don't pay enough (and/or have good enough supervision) to get employees that care enough to do a good job. It's not the first time a fan has run on the field there, yet they appear for all the world to have no idea what to do if that were to happen.

  22. Ceetar wrote: You seem to be some sort of 'experiment for next year' strategy, which isn't where the Mets are at. It's where they should be. When Beltran leaves, Duda needs to be playing every day, even if it's at Bay's expense.
  23. Be sure to check out this analysis of the video: http://www.readtheapple.com/2011/07/nice-video-jose-dont-ever-f-do-it-again.html
  24. June 27, 1980 Top of the first, with 1 out and Andre Dawson on first, Carter doubles to left field. Dawson scores. Immediately after the play, Pittsburgh catcher Ed Ott leaves the game, which to me suggests there was a collision at the plate. Retrosheet however indicates that Ott was ejected which suggests a controversial play. Paul Pryor was the third base umpire.
