  1. Mets better score soon as it’s Weaver for the 8th, Williams for the 9th, and then Lovelady for extras.
  2. I suppose I was being polite when I called it an “odd” choice and not “the wrong” choice.
  3. Pinch hitting Benge to provoke the change to a lefty is an odd choice when Taylor could instead face a tiring Stanek.
  4. Strike 3 there to Semien wasn’t a strike and…oops, we have no challenges. Not good
  5. I agree. See also: the third-base debacle on Sunday, and Centerfield’s point about Mendoza not just saying “it was a mistake to send him.” If the offense starts hitting to potential then these smaller issues might not get much attention but unless a lot of bats wake up quickly, this could get ugly.
  6. Lot of sloppy play recently, and it’s on Mendoza to get this cleaned up.
  7. The latter. Monday it was announced that Zeile would join in SF. Tuesday that was changed to Keith also missing today’s game.
  8. It’s not getaway day in Kansas City. Their series against Minnesota ends tomorrow, so no need for a day game today.
  9. I also would’ve started him over Young but Stearns hasn’t returned my calls
  10. Lindor SS Soto LF Bichette 3B Robert CF Young 1B Vientos DH Semien 2B Benge RF Torrens C
  11. Myers is exciting to me because relievers who can go multiple innings are a very useful thing to have on the roster. Looked good his first two outings. Weaver also looked ok his first two outings but it’s very early.
  12. You are mixing two distinct issues there: pace of game (popular change) and earlier game times (club-dependent and not a universally popular change). Of course the pitch clock has been well-documented as an overwhelmingly positive change. Earlier game times, on the other hand, are not so popular and, more significantly, do not appear to move the needle on viewership. Indeed, the teams that have 7:00 PM local game times on weeknights are all in the very biggest markets: Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Astros, Rangers, Braves — these teams are all in located in the 10 largest metropolitan areas in North America. Rather, game times appear mostly to be set based on attendance concerns. Examples: the Red Sox and the Cubs start weeknight games earlier in April and September, and at normal times in the warmer months. And of course lots of clubs have earlier starts on M-Th nights but not Friday.
  13. Can’t sweep if you don’t win the first one. (and this is absolutely a series the Mets should sweep)
  14. He’s got a better OPS than Young against righties too.
  15. Lindor SS Soto RF Bichette 3B Polanco DH Baty RF Young 1B Semien 2B Benge CF Alvarez C —- Everyone raise your hand if you expected Jared Young (!) to get a start before Vientos or Tyrone Taylor.
  16. Nice weather the first two days in St. Louis but 80% chance of rain Wednesday is potentially problematic.
  17. The schedule of which games are NBC vs. which games are Peacock is below. It looks like they stacked the NBC schedule primarily based on matchups. I’m sure it‘ll come as little surprise that Yankees/Dodgers, Dodgers/Red Sox, Yankees/Phillies, etc. are all NBC games. https://www.nbc.com/nbc-insider/sunday-night-baseball-full-2026-schedule-for-mlb-games-on-nbc-peacock
  18. Exactly. You cannot send the runner there unless he can safely score standing.
  19. Williams and Raley were unavailable per the post-game press conference. If so, then Mendoza bungled the use of Brazoban and Manaea. As a separate issue, if neither of our two best relievers can’t pitch a second day after throwing 19 and 11 pitches the prior day, we’ve got some issues with Stearns here.
  20. It’ll because of stupid losses like this that Mendoza won’t be back next year: -Where is Devin Williams? The dude threw 19 pitches and he can’t go the next day? -What idiot sends Lindor home when he would be at third with none out?
  21. Lovelady can pitch on consecutive days but not Williams?
  22. Tie game in the 9th, yesterday Mendoza went with Williams but today Weaver. Curious.
  23. I think it’s much more because he’s an asshole. Between the DUI and the domestic violence, Ozuna is possibly the most dislikable MLB player in the game today.
  24. I thought it was reported that Manaea was being planned to do a piggyback start or two (likely with Senga).
  25. The story is generally true but a few key details are wrong there: -It was Section 122 (not 121). I know this because I was sitting right there and this happened a couple rows in front of me. -The key assistance was actually provided by an emergency medicine physician who by an amazing stroke of luck happened to be seated right on the aisle a couple rows up from the afflicted person. In fairness, when this was pointed out to Carton, he did re-tweet this additional info:
