  2. Tweet from Jared Diamond: Lucas Duda is 7-for-14 against lefties so far this year.
  3. Niese did get the rhinoplasty, though: http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/7594929/new-york-mets-jon-niese-gets-nose-job-carlos-beltran-suggestion
  4. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I have a bad feeling about this game. That occurred to me for a second too, but then I remembered: 1. Craig Kimbrel's on the Padres now 2. We're not at Turner Field 3. 10 game winning streak = we've got the momentum, suckas* --- *Scientific accuracy of this statement not yet defined
  5. Going to need another RBI here, Bartolo.
  6. The plate-blocking rules are stupid. This is proof of why.
  7. Edgy MD wrote: With a good Mets team on a tear and possibly on the verge of a gilded era, is there even a market for Megdal's scandalmongering act anymore? Actually, as Megdal - and many others - have said, winning is exactly what the Mets have needed to put this behind them. Win games and nobody needs to talk about the Wilpons' finances. Keep it rolling, Mets!
  8. Fman99 wrote: BOOKS A few more wins and we'll have the whole encyclopedia
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Everybody's got to pull his weight, but no way I turn this game over to Gilmartin. He did a nice job with the first two batters at least.
  10. Single, against the shift, against a lefty? Nice job Lucas.
  11. Things you don't see every day: Ike Davis pitching to Colin Cowgill. (He got him to ground out).
  12. When was the last time, before the brothers Torres, that a Mets pitcher relieved another Mets pitcher with the same last name? September 28, 2006, Mets at Braves. Roberto relieves Orlando. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2006/B09280ATL2006.htm (September 3, 2006 for a mid-inning replacement. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2006/B09030HOU2006.htm)
  13. SNY started the next year, in 2006. If I remember right, Pedro struck out 12. And Looper gave up not one but two homers in the 9th; one to tie and the other to lose. I was listening to Howie and Gary in Red Bank, NJ waiting for a concert to start.
  14. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I swear it was 7-1 when I went out to do some yard work. Did something happen to Harvey? Thankfully, no. He put a few runners on in the 7th and was pulled for relievers.
  15. I think we have to. I like Recker and Eric Campbell but we can't be running both of those guys out every day and expect to win that often.
  16. Not a good job by Buddy but importantly, he got the 8th hitter out. Familia will have 3 batters to get in the 9th and won't necessarily have to face Stanton now.
  17. Broken arm being reported for Blevins.
  18. Going to need better bullpen work in the 8th and 9th here.
  19. Need one more hit to really break it open now.
  20. Bases loaded, no outs. Time for some runs!
  21. It's a bit of a struggle, really. To be fair, I don't hate Billy Joel, and given how low the bar was set in the past with things like "Sweet Caroline," this is certainly an improvement of sorts. I just wish the singalong could be an upbeat song instead.
