  2. I take this to mean Francis is a Mets fan.
  3. I just assumed in your scenario the Mets also sign Jon Gray, Scherzer, and re-sign Stroman.
  4. Also couldn't Baez play third and Correa second?
  5. I have no problem also recognizing that Boras acts like an asshole.
  6. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=80831 time=1636470916 user_id=119]I think Boras gets a slightly bad rap. People say Boras makes his players go after the highest dollar no matter what. But I think players hire Boras because they want him to go out and get them the highest dollar no matter what. He works for the players.

(I'm pretty sure that's come up before, but hey, answer it correctly, and you'll never have to see again!) I got this bonus question last time, and was told my guess of April 15, 1967 was “too early.” So…how about April 15, 1968?
  8. Edgy MD wrote: Your Bonus Question: What date marked the first appearance of a first-round draft pickin a Mets uniform? Tempted to go with “June 1965” but I'll guess they did not have the draftees wear the jersey on on draft day like they do now. So…wild guess…April 15, 1967??
  9. This is…not the matchup anyone needed or deserved.
  10. Aaron Heilman
  11. =G-Fafif post_id=79624 time=1634009637 user_id=55] Giants-Red Sox would be the most picturesque ballpark matchup in modern times, maybe anytime.
  12. Girardi *was* an interesting candidate when the Mets were looking for a manger in 2019 after firing Callaway. I don't think his last two years have helped his case though.

  14. WC: Dodgers over Cardinals Red Sox over Yankees Division Series: Giants over Dodgers in 5 Brewers over Braves in 3 Rays over Red Sox in 5 Astros over White Sox in 4 LCS: Rays over Astros in 6 Giants over Brewers in 5 WS: Rays over Giants in 7

Not really looking forward to a Mets loss, but I would trade Smith to the Braves in the next 2 hours if they made a fair offer in return. In all seriousness, as great as it is to win the last game of the year, I wonder if the home run and good feelings from the end of 2019 (winning record, strong second half performance) muddied the waters regarding the talent gap between the Mets and other teams. 2020 and 2021 have both been disappointing steps backward from that 86 win team in 2019, and returning the same basic group of players hoping they catch fire again has served the Mets poorly over the past 2 years.
  16. 8. Nick Tropeano?
  17. Managerial malpractice to not leave Diaz in. What more important game could Luis be waiting for exactly?
  18. =TransMonk post_id=77693 time=1631641644 user_id=71] Well, I'm also assuming Cano comes back next year after his suspension is listed. He's still under contract for a couple years, no?
  19. I am reminded that for a time in 2007, the Mets had Carlos Gomez, Carlos Beltran, and Endy Chavez all starting in the same outfield; it was probably the greatest defensive starting outfield in the history of the Mets. Would Davis - Conforto - McNeil be the worst?
  20. To Rojas' credit, he stopped playing Smith. Sure, Smith did miss 3 games on the bereavement list, but in total he has 4 PA in the last 12 days. And while I agree that Pillar is not good, unless you seriously want to suggest Conforto in center (and I don't think you are doing that), there aren't better options that Pillar in the lineup. So again, it's really just Davis in for McNeil. I can get behind that, or at least as a platoon.
  21. =Ceetar post_id=76892 time=1631106977 user_id=102]but essentially, yeah, put Davis in left and figure it out. The only player on the Mets with a higher wRC+ is Nimmo and we just basically lost him.
  22. One wonders if the next week has a major impact on deGrom's status. Sweep Miami, sweep that other team from the Bronx, pick up a couple of games on Atlanta, and sure, deGrom can pitch a few times and get stretched out for the playoffs.
  23. =Ceetar post_id=76815 time=1631048030 user_id=102] J.D. Davis? WHERE ARE YOU
  24. =Ceetar post_id=76452 time=1630706858 user_id=102] sure, sit J.D. Davis again, that makes sense.
