  1. Al Leiter.
  2. If the fans voted for starting pitcher, by how much would deGrom have the lead? Bigger than the gap between any other #1 and #2, yes?
  3. I'm clearly in the minority on this issue because I say it every time the Mets are in ATL but the Braves Organist is an overrated, attention-seeking, POS. "Don't watch the game, listen to the esoteric song that somehow applies to the player and then ponder my wit and brilliance." Fact: Organ music in ballparks sucks. It's barely a step above Muzak. Real music is better.
  4. Don't they usually play the futures game on the Sunday before the ASG? One could argue that it's a ticketholder-friendly move, with the Futures Game Sunday, Home Run Derby Monday, and ASG Tuesday. I suppose they do have 2 days post-ASG which are wide open.
  5. =bmfc1 post_id=69560 time=1625020778 user_id=73] It feels like they ended a long losing streak even though it's only been two games.
  6. A win would result in the first >.500 June since 2012.

  9. In the first 16 games of June, the Mets averaged 4.71 runs/game. And sure, there were games against Baltimore and Arizona in there, but also San Diego and the Cubs. In the last 13 games against…checks notes…under-.500 teams such as Philadelphia, Washington, and Atlanta, they are averaging 2.23 runs/game. How do you all of a sudden stop scoring 2.5 runs/game?
  10. Despite having relatively little personal exposure to Nationals “fans,” bmfc1's regular expressions of contempt have really helped move them up into my Top 5 Most Loathsome Fanbase rankings.
  11. =bmfc1 post_id=69376 time=1624820974 user_id=73] In Game 7 of the World Series Luis will be playing for Game 8.
  12. We have 13 pitchers on the roster but can't hit for Oswalt when it really matters??
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Except that he was a replacement for Wheeler, a pre-replacement or a hedge against failing to re-sign him if you prefer that wording. That doesn't mean we have to be happy about it and can't still argue that they should have signed Wheeler in addition to trading for Stroman. But I don't think the fact that that didn't happen makes Chad's statement wrong. One was coming in the door just as the other was leaving and effectively occupies the place where ZW would have been. Obviously it's partly semantics, but the words do matter. The idea that Stroman was a “replacement” for Wheeler was a stupid justification made by team executives to the media. There's no need to repeat it or dignify it, hence my objection.
  14. Chad ochoseis wrote: We got Stroman as a replacement for Wheeler Not a knock at Chad (since this “replacement” narrative came from elsewhere) but that is unmitigated nonsense. Failing to re-sign Wheeler, who wanted to remain a Met, was a big error. In fact, the biggest failure to re-sign a player since…Reyes? Olerud?
  15. McCann has not impressed this year.
  16. “Edwin Diaz (five-out save on Wednesday) and Aaron Loup (three innings pitched on Tuesday) were both unavailable tonight, per Rojas.” —- Of course they lost because they couldn't score runs, but with a 4 run lead there was no need to put Diaz back out for the 9th inning on Wednesday. Especially if that was going to make him unavailable for both games of a DH on Friday. Not good, Luis.
  17. =bmfc1 post_id=69250 time=1624674670 user_id=73] Pete has become a singles hitter. Maybe he should bat leadoff like Schwarber to wake him up.
  18. No, seriously. Diaz is the team's best reliever, he didn't pitch in game 1, Thursday was an off day, there is no save chance. Either he's hurt or this is managerial malpractice.
  19. Wait, why isn't Diaz in the game?
  20. Don't you dare McCann
