You have to sign up but Peacock is free for the MLB games. 6:40 starts are not necessary on Friday nights. Why make it harder for people to attend? Afternoon games on the weekend, sure, those make sense.

I guess 7-6 is ok, but I thought the Mets underperformed their potential against these good teams. In the next 11 against Houston/Miami, I'd like to see 7-8 wins.

Both Kazmir and Ryan deals are equals in value received (bupkis) but Ryan had so much longer a career as a dominating pitcher (even if considered an innings-eater, which he was, too) that I think he maybe answers the OP here, in terms of "numbers of World's Championships his loss cost the Mets." I think Ryan's peak was higher than Kazmir's too, and he repeated that season about a dozen times. Why, in this exercise, would we attribute Ryan's entire career to the Mets after undoing the trade? He hit free agency multiple times in his career and could have been reacquired by the Mets any number of times. Accordingly, it's fair to say that 1973 Ryan on the Mets could probably yield another championship. But even if you transplant his other 1970s pre-free agent seasons back to the Mets…do you even get playoff teams those other years? Maybe 1980s Ryan puts the Mets on top an additional year but the trade didn't prevent that.

As for the day games, the 4:10 Saturday start is underrated. A few more Sunday 4:10 starts would also be welcome.

The home-and-home with one interleague opponent has occurred since whenever the Astros went to the AL and the leagues were balanced at 15 teams. Each team plays 20 interleague games. For the Mets, in AL Central/AL West years, it's 4 teams x 3 games (2 home series, 2 road) plus 1 team x 4 games (home and road) plus 4 games vs Yankees.

Lindor, Guillorme, Escobar (and Marte) have a thing when returning to the dugout where they continue flipping the ball between them as they run off the field. Not sure the TV cameras would show it. Lots of fun. -
Atlanta's winning streak is unpleasant but they also have not played a lot of good teams. These wins are coming against the likes of Colorado, Oakland, Pittsburgh, and Washington. Atlanta still has lots of tough opponents to come: 7 games each with St Louis and San Francisco, 3 with the Dodgers, 3 with Houston, 3 with the Angels, and 15 (!) with the Mets. And injuries will affect them too. Ozzie Albies has a broken foot.

Predicting 8 wins out of 13 (inclusive of a Brewers sweep) would be right on target.

I was underwhelmed by all of the 5-tool Mets outfield prospects: Ryan Thompson Alex Ochoa Alex Escobar Lastings Milledge Fernando Martinez I've also think I've been underwhelmed by every prospect the Mets have acquired via trade since about 1990 (other than Syndergaard and Wheeler).

Hockey's 3-on-3 overtime is amazing, and they should just make that the entire third period.

Yeah, but how does the extra inning runner solve that? Speeding up the game in innings 1-9, sure. The occasional extra inning game? It's a dumb rule change that doesn't solve anything important.

There was and is no extra innings “problem.” The number of games extending into late innings is very small. Changing the rules is dumb. There could be no clearer indictment of why this rule is dumb than the fact that it does not apply in the postseason.
