  1. The Mets' 8-4 victory today, September 4, 2019, is the first for the Mets by that score since they beat Texas on July 6, 2014. Very rare that a relatively non-exotic score of that nature would need to wait five years to repeat.
  2. 1090. Sam Haggerty
  3. No lead is safe in park with Mets relievers in it.
  4. I'm gonna guess Howie's heard of that game.
  5. Preeminent 45s Tug Pedro PETE (Game 139)
  6. Glimpse at highlights indicates Nats Fever didn't infect DC in terms of walkup sales this afternoon.
  7. I think I'm still in shock. I wasn't even that mad. Just numb. Staring at the TV. Same, basically. I was legit mad Sunday night (when Familia sucked at CBP) for the first time all season. Earlier losses, given their hopeless context, didn't rile me up in earnest. The losing streak at home last week was more absorbing than angering. This one took me back to a void I last truly experienced 18 Septembers ago. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2019/09/04/jordan-vu-all-over-again/http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2019/09/04/jordan-vu-all-over-again/ Remember that like it was yesterday. Thanks for bringing all of that pain back Greg. Anytime!
  8. Escape from bases-loaded jam! Lagares homer! Destroy our narrative of doom!

  10. =Centerfield post_id=20854 time=1567612955 user_id=65] It occurs to me, that it doesn't even matter. Even if the Mets were to win 15 in a row, grab the second WC, beat the Nats in the one game play in, the Dodgers, Cardinals and Braves would absolutely murder this bullpen in the post season. It would be an annihilation.
  11. Hey, Cano can still hit.
  12. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2019/09/04/jordan-vu-all-over-again/I felt nothing. Except the feeling that this bullshit was absurd. —Diana Morales, A Chorus Line
  13. Last night, September 3, 2019, was the seventh 11-10 loss in Mets history. The first came on April 8, 1969, the day last night's opponents were born as the Montreal Expos. One of the other 11-10 defeats came at Pittsburgh, on May 26, 1994, the day of last night's benchwarmers, Sam Haggerty, was born.
  14. Ruben played for Syracuse in their not at all foreshadowy finale, having re-signed as a minor league free agent after all.
  15. Preeminent 44s Isringhausen Payton ALONSO (Game 138)
  16. Prescient and accounted for here like Sportsphone back in the day: fast and first.
  17. =bmfc1 post_id=20711 time=1567540158 user_id=73] deGrom and Scherzer duel but deGrom gives up a walk and then a HR to Rendon in the 7th, so it's 2-0 WSH going into the 9th (I debate leaving) but Scherzer is replaced (so I stay). With two outs (I again debate leaving but don't)... Rajai pinch-hits and walks, McNeil singles, Alonso hits a 3-run homerun (I go out of my mind). Diaz pitches a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th and I ride the Metro home, smiling all the way.
  18. They wore those awful uniforms, which is almost as bad as leaving the country during a playoff race.
  19. Guys Washington chooses to not come see: Trea Turner SS Asdrúbal Cabrera 2B Anthony Rendon 3B Juan Soto LF Matt Adams 1B Kurt Suzuki C Gerardo Parra RF Victor Robles CF Max Scherzer P
  20. DeGrom effectively came from behind last year, which, like his scant win total, made the award all the more remarkable. Scherzer was the consensus favorite at midseason. Tough to argue with a 1.70 ERA. Jake is at that level, I'd think, where voters might look at nobody being the obvious choice and deciding you can't go wrong with this guy.
  21. Gary keeps pushing Jake for another Cy, which I would of course welcome but am not in the least bit feeling. Maybe I'm comparing him more to Jake 2018 than his 2019 contemporaries.
  22. Like René Rivera, Jeff McNeil lives!
  23. Mrs. McHugh continues to be a must-follow. This latest thread is gold. https://twitter.com/arbuzzy/status/1168573461012328449?s=21https://twitter.com/arbuzzy/status/1168573461012328449?s=21
  24. Love a backup catcher who drives in a run while giving the starter and his hitting streak a necessary rest. Everybody helps.
