1. so the Mets are REALLY incentivized to tank
2. McNeil looks terrible, but I'm not so sure he is hurt - he looked just like this in 2021 - maybe this is who he is now
3. Tim Anderson is a punk, overrated, and LOL Jose Ramirez dropped him like Mike Tyson hitting a punching bag
4. Giving him the benefit of the doubt here that he isn't dogging it and the Yankees KNOW he can't run and are choosing to play him anwyay, he is slashing .209/.291/465 over the past two seasons (170 games, 695 PA) - what value is he providing? If I were the Yankees, I'd want to reserve my DH spot for the banged-up Aaron Judge, keeping him the lineup every single day seems important to their playoff hopes.
5. you seem to intentionally make it harder on yourself though (trying for low percentages on purpose?) Ruth, Bonds, Mays etc easily fit multiple cells here with little thought
6. Ah, a double play, back to business as usual.
7. How much of it is education? There was certainly a time in many cities when - as long as you weren't an ass about it and went willingly - you'd simply be escorted out of the stadium with no other consequences
8. The Washington Nationals boxes get easier when you mentally replace the logo.
9. I don't even turn the TV on for Carrasco's starts anymore. I think he is my least favorite Mets starting pitcher ever.
10. back on the board!
11. i picked the wrong Chris Young for Texas/KC, i feel screwed!
12. in 2 years i'll forget he was even a Met on ImmaculateGrid
13. Some talking-head moron in the preseason made a comment about Robertson not being ready for the pressure of taking over the closer job in New York from the great Edwin Diaz. Because, you know, he never had big shoes to fill in New York in the shadow of a legend before. Probably the most I've wanted to punch a talking-head this year.
14. Had a great 2022 for us but instead of accepting the outcome - and his part in it - in 2023 he played the "get me out of here" card and couldn't resist a blame-the-mets interview on the way out. He could have gone out as a fondly remembered piece of a 100 win team. instead he goes out remembered as Mike Hampton II.
15. 8/9
16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Didn't it go the other way around,? Mets--Tribe--mets Yes, of course. Indian Giver Gazzette is pretty amusing. That kind of satire would never fly nowadays some sixty years later. There was an entire Seinfeld episode on the subjects. You know, back in the 90's when you could make a joke.
17. Maybe Eppler was told to paint a bleaker picture to Scherzer so that he WOULD wave his no-trade clause.
18. Andrew Dawson didn't have 3K hits so 8/9 for me today.
19. I'd like to know more about the differences in that "pre-tacked" ball used in that league and specifically how it might make his current repertoire look better than it really is. (e.g.-Does it improve spin on the curve? Does the ball add/detract from his speed on the fastball?) Variations like that can make judging his upside more difficult. Aside from that: - He is Rule 5 eligible following the 2023 season, meaning the Mets will have to put him on the 40-man roster to protect him. - Does this mean McNeil will move to the outfield full time? Baty? Does this mean Mauricio will be recalled soon? Something else? Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter. Later Unless they also trade Pham, Canha's departure doesn't really create an everyday role for anyone once Marte is healthy.
20. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=133363 time=1690765703 user_id=68] Maybe Jake deGrom was right all along and Chris Young's vision was better than the Mets' FO's vision.
21. I used Scherzer in the middle box and Pedro in the middle right. That left me struggling for a 3000 strikeout dodger and I learned that Kershaw is less than 100 short
22. They gave me a pretty long leash there, lol... I heard from HVAC Guy recently, he's still incarcerated https://doccs.ny.gov/location/green-haven-correctional-facilityhere for at least ten more years. Poor bastard. What did he do?
23. Jack Leiter? i like that!
24. i'd think that maybe you'd see more firstbasemen than secondbasemen drafted high out of the high school ranks - a huge kid with no defensive value but a huge stick to match might already be at first base, but what type of player is already at secondbase rather than 3rd/short in high school? one with no arm or range who is too short for 1B?
25. What do you call a top shortstop prospect who only hits 75% of his "ceiling"? All-Star Second Baseman. What do you call a top first base prospect who does the same? Minor League Assistant Coach I kid, but the bar for a successful Catcher or Shortstop prospect to find success is lower. I WANT to be hoarding at those positions.
