And the shutout dies on that note. that fine, there are 6 runs on our side for once - he can go 9 and give up 2 and we'll be fine. just give the bullpen a break and build momentum here - a win and rested relievers is a great formula
Lose the jacket. Mark Cuban pulls off "I'm a filthy rich sports owner and always dressed casually but not like a shlub" well, that would be the guy to copy
Canha getting robbed too, damn this team. Also finally sick of Vogelbach - he had a great year last year, but unlike some of the other struggling hitters he clogs the roster with his DH-only-ness. move on.
The Mets dodged a bullet here. Good for them trusting their medicals and not handing an oft-injured pitcher a huge contract that would have amounted to a lifetime achievement award.

The point is that Ronnie is backing the idea that pitches catching the front corner are going to be called balls on account of how R.U. is programmed. I contend that he's grossly over-selling the concept. I don't know if that is true (that the robot ump is essentially a 2 dimensional rather than 3 dimensional strikezone) but even if it were true, a 2 dimensional but consistent zone would still be an improvement over what we have now.
Canha and Carrasco were two of the bigger disappointments before tonight, nice to see two more guys getting the job done if only for one game. keep it up and maybe things turn around fast
Verlander has allowed 27 hits and only 6 walks in 30 innings, but carries a 4.5 ERA - that seems like bad luck and he should be more in line for an ERA in the 3's
